Much improved upped to 25f at Plumpton (good) recently, seeing off his 8 rivals in decisive fashion. Will prove a tough nut to crack under a penalty if in a similar mood.

Bumper winner in 2018. Not beaten far when fourth in 2½m handicap hurdle here in March, but looked painfully slow in a C&D maiden since and likely to come up short once more.

Modest hurdler who was pulled up on latest start in this sphere at Musselburgh in January. Well held in a jumpers bumper next time and opposable starting out for new yard here.

On a long losing run and hardly shaped as though he'll buck that trend anytime soon when sixth over fences back from a break here 17 days ago.

Clear signs of ability when fourth of 12 on hurdles debut here (2m, heavy) in October, but subsequent efforts have hardly represented steps in the right direction. Untried beyond 2½m.

Has shown no more than a modicum of ability in 2 bumpers and 4 starts in this sphere to date. Best to look elsewhere.

Runner-up on second start for this yard over C&D in March, but pulled up either side of that and his record is too patchy for comfort. Cheekpieces refitted.

Successful back from a break at Ayr in October (awarded race in stewards' room) and went close over this C&D in November. Form has dipped badly since, though, and slower ground would be preferable.

Forecasts

Tommie Beau (5/4), Big Picture (11/2), Fame And Hope (13/2), Kildrum (15/2), Espoir Moriviere (17/2), Shaughnessy (18/1), African Glory (20/1), Aquitaine Boy (20/1), Charmix (22/1), Magic Of Milan (40/1), Grumpy Mcgrumpface (40/1), Harrisons Promise (66/1), Donna's Diva (80/1), That's My Dubai (125/1)

Verdict

Pretty much all of these have something to prove for one reason or another. The glaring exception is TOMMIE BEAU, who opened his account in good style at Plumpton 9 days ago and, with the promise of better to come from this 6-y-o, he is hard to oppose. By process of elimination rather than votes of confidence, Shaughnessy and Espoir Moriviere are taken to fill the places.

  1. TOMMIE BEAU (IRE)
  2. SHAUGHNESSY
  3. ESPOIR MORIVIERE (FR)
