Failed to land a blow in 3 runs in 2020, and finished nearer last than first in handicaps at Redcar and Wetherby for new connections last month.

Bagged competitive handicaps at York and Ayr during a productive 2020 campaign. Started this season well with a close-up fourth of 10 at Wetherby (5.5f, good) and should give another good account.

Drew a blank last year, but was runner-up on 5 occasions and the forecast conditions here are in his favour (best form on good to soft or slower). However, current mark leaves little margin for error.

Losing run mounting up and while the handicapper has shown mercy, his recent reappearance effort at Thirsk wasn't sufficiently encouraging to make him of interest here.

Creditable fourth of 9 in 6f Newcastle handicap starting out for this yard on return in April. However, failed to build on that next time and the recent rain will not aid his cause.

Failed to add to his tally in 2020 and disappointing at Thirsk 19 days ago, having caught the eye on his Beverley reappearance. Still, conditions won't be an issue and he'll be a threat if on-song.

Caught the eye on his return when running-on third of 9 in 6f handicap at Newcastle. Not seen to best effect in 2 subsequent starts and each-way shout here granted better luck.

Winner of a good-ground 6f Ayr handicap last summer. Eye-catching fourth of 16 off this mark at Thirsk a fortnight ago and while conditions here are a slight concern, he's one for the shortlist.

Arrives here on a 27-race losing run and there were little in the way of positives to glean from his latest effort at Newcastle in February.

Much improved on back of breathing op when opening her account in 6f Redcar handicap in September. Not disgraced off this mark at Pontefract (6f, heavy) a month later and claims if fully tuned-up.

Back on the scoreboard at Pontefract in October, but well held on final start of 2020 and her record when fresh strongly suggests this is not the time to lend her support.

Forecasts

Music Society (4/1), Twist Of Hay (5/1), Roundhay Park (11/2), Eye Of The Water (11/2), Show Me Show Me (6/1), True Mason (15/2), Dick Datchery (10/1), Triggered (10/1), Impressor (18/1), Spanish Angel (18/1), Penny Pot Lane (33/1), Ice Age (40/1)

Verdict

DICK DATCHERY is yet to conclusively prove himself on slow ground, but his clams are otherwise most appealing following an eye-catching recent effort at Thirsk. He gets the nod ahead of Music Society, who isn't the easiest to catch right but is on a good mark and is effective on an easy surface. Twist of Hay and Roundhay Park are others to consider.

  1. DICK DATCHERY (IRE)
  2. MUSIC SOCIETY (IRE)
  3. TWIST OF HAY
