Hasn't got his head in front for the best part of 2 years, but has slipped to an attractive mark and posted a respectable effort at Thirsk (6f) recently. Claims back up in trip here from a handy draw.
On a long losing run and misfired on return at Southwell. Should be sharper now and refitting of cheekpieces may help, plus he's well-drawn, but stamina (untried beyond 6f) has to be taken on trust.
Landed back-to-back 6f contests at Newcastle late last year, but struggled back on turf at Doncaster (first run following a wind op) in March and has been raced exclusively over 5f/6f to date.
Veteran who put a couple of poor AW runs behind him when sixth of 13 back on turf at Haydock recently. Good record here (last 2 wins gained over this C&D) and he's a big player from a favourable draw.
Largely consistent and resumed winning ways in good style at Southwell (6f) in March. Subsequent defeat can be excused and he goes well here, but stall 11 not ideal and he'll need plenty of rain.
Drew a blank in 2020, but resumed this season with a couple of near-misses over 7f. Not disgraced in Class 2 Newbury handicap (1m) latest and, a winner on sole previous visit here, he's not ruled out.
Winner of 1m Redcar handicap last summer and, gelded during the winter, he has performed with credit both starts at Kempton this season. Drop back to 7f no great concern, but stall 12 is a worry.
Enjoyed a productive 2020, signing campaign off with back-to-back wins at Ayr (6f) and Musselburgh (5f). Stays 7f, but record when fresh isn't great and, in any case, this demands a career-best.
Successful 3 times over 6f/7f at Catterick last season, the latest off 3 lb lower mark in October. However, failed to fire on Redcar reappearance and he's been done no favours at all by the draw.
Placed on each of his half-a-dozen visits here and this mark shouldn't be beyond him. However, it's off-putting that his sole turf win was back in 2018 and he was below on the AW last time.
Displayed plenty of ability during time with Sir Michael Stoute, but his 2 starts for new connections this season following a 23-month absence have lacked spark.
Winner of a decent 6f Newmarket handicap off this mark last July, but has subsequently failed to perform to that level and his efforts on the AW in March were uninspiring.
Placed off higher marks than this on both starts here in 2020, but he ended that campaign on a sour note and has been dealt a bad hand in terms of the draw for this seasonal reappearance.
Three-time winner for Mark Johnston at 2 yrs, including here. Back to form when opening account for David Loughnane at Southwell (7f) recently, but more needed under a penalty in this stronger race.

Forecasts
National League (9/2), Lincoln Park (9/2), Sir Maximilian (5/1), Rathbone (7/1), Praxeology (15/2), Silver Samurai (9/1), Baby Steps (12/1), Theotherside (14/1), Ledham (22/1), Astro Jakk (22/1), Broken Spear (25/1), Black Friday (28/1), Shawaamekh (28/1), Redrosezorro (80/1)
Judged on his encouraging effort at Haydock, SIR MAXIMILIAN looks poised for another successful trip to the Roodee. He is now 5 lb lower than for his C&D success in September and has been treated kindly by the draw. Rathbone and National League rate the main dangers, given that Lincoln Park and Silver Samurai are both drawn high.
