C&D winner. 5/1, respectable fifth of 12 in handicap back here (good to firm) 7 days ago. Entitled to come on for that run and he looks more than capable of exploiting this lowly mark.

Thrice-raced maiden. 8/1, seventh of 8 in minor event at Pontefract (5f, good to firm) on final 2-y-o start. Gelded ahead of this handicap bow and worth a second look for in-form yard. Hood enlisted.

5/1
Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable third of 8 in maiden at Chelmsford City (6f, 9/2) 11 days ago. Not beaten far off 2 lb higher on Pontefract handicap debut earlier in April and she needs considering.

Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 12 in nursery at Chelmsford City (7f, 5/1) in November, unable to sustain effort. Drop back in trips looks a good move and he merits consideration.

Quirky sort. 11/2, creditable fifth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 34 days ago, badly hampered. Gelded ahead of this first run for new yard/turf debut and more needed.

Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, creditable second of 10 in nursery at Newcastle (7.1f), staying on strongly. Should make up a race or two this season, but this drop back in trip is of dubious benefit.

17/2
Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 11 in maiden (14/1) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Good chance that she'll be seen in a better light now that she goes down the handicap route.

Forecasts

Hot Scoop (3/1), Eloquent Arthur (9/2), Show Yourself (5/1), Ask The Wind (7/1), Danzart (15/2), Global Vision (17/2), Privacy (17/2), Million Reasons (10/1), Tarneemat (25/1)

Verdict

The vote goes to HOT SCOOP, who made an encouraging reappearance over C&D last week off this reduced mark and he should be cherry-ripe now. Show Yourself has done little wrong on each of her 5 starts and is next on the shortlist, while Eloquent Arthur also enters calculations back at 6f. Danzart and Privacy may both improve now pitched into handicap company, particularly the latter.

  1. HOT SCOOP
  2. SHOW YOURSELF
  3. ELOQUENT ARTHUR
