Cheekpieces fitted and much improved on his last two starts over fences, comfortably opening his account in 3m Huntingdon maiden 19 days ago. Not taken lightly back in handicap company.

Gained breakthrough chasing win on the back of a wind op at Doncaster (3m) last month, holding Gleno by ¾l. Not ruled out despite 5 lb rise.

Lightly-raced hurdler but fairly useful form when scoring at Wincanton and matched that form on only his second run over fences when third in 3m Huntingdon maiden. Needs more on handicap bow though.

Fairly useful hurdler. Very good second in 3m Kelso handicap chase but below-par fifth after a wind op at Doncaster only run since. Cheekpieces on now and needs to bounce back.

Not the most straightforward and still to score in this sphere, but had wind surgery before good second in 3m Exeter handicap 17 days ago. In the mix off same mark.

Racked up hat-trick of 3m hurdle wins in 2018. Off over 2 years and failed to build on encouraging chasing bow when only seventh in 2m4f Kempton handicap 27 days ago. Needs to step forward.

Point/hurdle winner who got back on track in first-time cheekpieces when making all in 3m1f Hereford handicap chase. Hit with 8 lb rise though so needs bit more now.

Yet to match his fairly useful winning hurdles form over fences but he hinted at a revival when sixth of 8 in 2m4f handicap chase at Sandown 13 days ago. No forlorn hope off reduced mark.

Forecasts

Minella Bobo (9/2), Corrany (9/2), Ocean Cove (11/2), Larkbarrow Lad (6/1), Gleno (6/1), Minella Encore (13/2), Mac Tottie (15/2), Admiral Barratry (15/2), Jersey Bean (10/1), Old Rascals (14/1), Limited Reserve (20/1), The Devils Drop (25/1)

Verdict

A very open handicap so at the likely odds ADMIRAL BARRATRY is worth siding with given he looked a chaser very much on the up until blotting his copybook at Sandown after a first-fence howler. Nicky Henderson's Corrany has thrived since the cheekpieces went on and heads the list of dangers, with Ocean Cove and Gleno two others who are worth a second look.

  1. ADMIRAL BARRATRY (FR)
  2. CORRANY (IRE)
  3. OCEAN COVE (IRE)
