Made it 2-2 over hurdles on handicap debut at Kelso last month. Hit with an 11 lb rise, but he's entitled to come on for that run (first start for 16 months) and another bold show is anticipated.

Ran right up to best when regaining winning thread at Market Rasen (23f) in November. Another solid effort when going close in first-time blinkers at Carlisle recently and couldn't rule out.

Fairly useful handicap hurdler for Willie Mullins, but made a low-key start for this yard at Newcastle a fortnight ago.

Now 1 lb lower than for his latest success at Wetherby last February. However, it's been a struggle since and this 12-y-o is opposable on balance.

Returned to form when narrowly getting the better of an argument with Teescomponents Lad at Carlisle (19.3f) last time. Possibilities if able to back that effort up here.

Bounced back from a couple of lacklustre displays when accounting for 13 rivals in a 19.4f Doncaster handicap in January. 6 lb rise fair enough and it's not hard to envisage him playing a big part.

Winner of both starts over hurdles upon joining this yard last term. Fair effort on return/chase debut at Ayr (3m) and needs considering back down in trip returned to this sphere.

Enhanced excellent record here when scoring over C&D in December. Returned from a break with a creditable effort in defeat off this revised mark at Wetherby, but she looks vulnerable all the same.

Three-time winner in this sphere and positive start to the season when runner-up in a Hexham novices' chase. Well held both starts since, though, and revival needed back hurdling in new headgear.

Enjoyed a productive first campaign over hurdles last term, but has come up short in the jumping department in 3 starts this season and was beaten 24 lengths by Corrieben Reiver at Kelso latest.

Most recent efforts have lacked spark and though dangerous to completely rule now 3 lb below his last winning mark, he appears more at home on faster ground nowadays.

Verdict

MAYO STAR looked good when scoring over C&D and at Newcastle last term, and there may well be more to come from him back in this sphere following an encouraging reappearance over fences here in November. Corrieben Reiver left Ebony Jewel trailing in his wake at Kelso and is feared, despite an 11 lb hike, while fellow last-time-out winner Dorking Boy is also shortlisted.

  2. CORRIEBEN REIVER
  3. DORKING BOY
