Dual winning pointer who made a successful Rules debut in a C&D maiden hurdle last month. Improvement may well be forthcoming and this 7-y-o is a must for the shortlist.

Surprise winner of an Aintree maiden on hurdles debut in October. Good second at Chepstow on penultimate start and though rather disappointing there next time, he's one of the more likely winners.

No form in bumpers and was pulled up on hurdles debut in the C&D maiden won by Omar Maretti.

Better than he was able to show on debut in a Newcastle newcomers bumper in January. Since undergone wind surgery and equipped with a tongue strap for this hurdles bow. Yard also saddles Whitechurch.

No show on debut in a Doncaster bumper and didn't fare any better in a first-time tongue strap switched to hurdles at Wetherby recently. Now tried in cheekpieces.

Beaten a fair way on sole start between the flags and didn't fare any better on Rules debut in a bumper here a fortnight ago.

Shaped fairly well in a Sedgefield bumper on debut in October 2019, but he hasn't shown a great deal in 3 starts since switched to this sphere.
|

Successful between the flags at the third attempt in 2019, but his 3 efforts under Rules have been uninspiring.

Modest form at best in bumpers for Michael Herrington last term and similar story in a couple of spins over hurdles for new yard this season.

Modest maiden on the Flat who was beaten a long way on Wetherby hurdles debut. Showed a bit more here next time, but minor place money is the very best he can hope for.

Forecasts

Omar Maretti (4/6), Real Stone (11/8), El Jefe (11/1), Very Patient (25/1), Ned's Escape (40/1), Geromino (66/1), Whitechurch (66/1), Tom Cody (250/1), Cimetta (250/1), Red Opium (250/1), Beforeypushdachair (250/1), Ribeye (250/1), Hallowed Ground (300/1)

Verdict

OMAR MARETTI overcame a 12-month absence when making a winning start over hurdles here in February and, with the promise of better to come, he earns the vote. Real Stone is the clear main danger and will offer stern resistance if settling better than he did at Chepstow last time. El Jefe and Very Patient can scrap it out for minor honours.
