Well-held third sole start in bumpers, but much more like it since switching to hurdling for new stable, landing 2½m Hereford maiden in good style 37 days ago. Open to further improvement.

Useful-looking gelding who was fortunate to open his hurdles account in 19.3f Catterick novice 34 days ago, held when left in front last. More will be needed under a penalty here.

Fairly useful on Flat for Andrew Balding but has made an unpromising start over hurdles. Unlikely to be of interest until handicapping.

Little impact on the Flat and in 2m novice hurdles at Southwell and here. Big step forward is required.

Placed only once from 4 outings in Irish points and tailed off on Catterick hurdle debut 12 days ago.

Beaten a long way in a pair of Wincanton novice hurdles in recent months. Looks more one for handicaps.

Out of a close relation to owner's Grand National winner Many Clouds. 18/1, didn't show a great deal in a Doncaster bumper last month but longer trip should suit now hurdling. Tongue tie also added.

£440,000 purchase on the back of point win and runner-up on first 2 starts over hurdles last term. Not seen since below-form fourth at Doncaster 13 months ago but player on best form.

€60,000 Jeremy gelding who made a successful debut in 5-runner bumper at Haydock (heavy) in December, staying on to lead inside final 100 yds. Nice hurdle prospect.

Well held in pair of novice hurdles towards the end of 2020. Booked for another struggle.

Half-brother to bumper winner Backsheesh. Placed on the first of 2 starts in points last spring. Betting perhaps best guide to expectations now hurdling.

Modest form at best in 2 bumpers for Michael Herrington last season and well held in Catterick novice hurdle on reappearance for new yard.

Runner-up sole start in Irish points, but that was way back in March 2017. Can only really watch on belated hurdle debut.

Ballybegg (10/11), Papa Tango Charly (3/1), Tamar Bridge (7/2), Frimeur De Lancray (9/2), Ulverston (7/1), Flexi Furlough (12/1), Into Overdrive (25/1), Mrs Barnes (50/1), Walk With Kings (66/1), Ned's Escape (100/1), Malinas Island (200/1), Cimetta (200/1), Veshenskaya (250/1), Brickadank (250/1), To The Limit (250/1), Hallowed Ground (250/1), Blood Eagle (250/1)

Verdict

BALLYBEG, who holds a Ballymore entry at the Cheltenham Festival, looked useful when scoring by a wide margin at Hereford last time and is selected to make light of the penalty. The Olly Murphy bumper winner Tamar Bridge may be the one to give him most to think about. Papa Tango Charly could also play a prominent role if anywhere near his best after an absence.

  2. TAMAR BRIDGE (IRE)
  3. PAPA TANGO CHARLY (FR)
