Off time: 12:53 | Winning time: 5m 58.87s

Away For Slates²⁸

Age: 11| Weight: 12-1| J: Kevin Jones⁽³⁾| T: M F Harris| OR: 102

8/1

Multiple-chase winner who was in good form until modest fourth at Warwick a month ago. Well weighted if he can shrug off that effort.

Form: 3-53234

Imperial Nemesis⁶⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 12-1| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 102

3/1

Fair maiden hurdler/chaser with a bit of a hit-or-miss profile. Pulled up on reappearance and though much more like it when runner-up over hurdles in November, he did throw away a winning chance.

Form: 642P-P2

Magic River^t,v⁴⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 11-12| J: Mitchell Bastyan⁽³⁾| T: M F Harris| OR: 99

6/1

Fair chaser who looked as good as ever when runner-up under a waiting ride at Wincanton last month. Made hard work of things when fourth there since but might have found that coming too soon.

Form: 14-2524

Invincible Cave^p¹⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-5| J: Tom Cannon| T: C Gordon| OR: 92

5/1

Tricky customer who was clearly rejuvenated when landing back-to-back handicap hurdles at up to 25f in November. Weakened quickly back over fences at Wincanton 19 days ago.

Form: P5113P

Granitic^t⁶¹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-1| J: Daniel Sansom⁽³⁾| T: J W Mullins| OR: 88

12/1

Winless over obstacles and yet to convince with jumping over fences, unseating rider early at Doncaster in November. Returns for in-form yard, at least.

Form: 962F-4U

Glorious Boru²⁸

Age: 10| Weight: 10-10| J: James Bowen| T: A Irvine| OR: 83

11/2

Long-standing maiden who returned to form when third at Uttoxeter (20f) in October. Well held completed start since, though.

Form: 2P-73U7

Midnight Calamity^b1¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 10-9| J: Jay Tidball⁽¹⁰⁾| T: W G M Turner| OR: 82

28/1

Lightly-raced mare who has pulled up both starts in recent weeks. Blinkers replace cheekpieces.

Form: 0425-PP

Joey Steel⁹³

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: Jack Tudor⁽³⁾| T: Christian Williams| OR: 75

4/1

Poor and temperamental maiden. Not disgraced at Ffos Las on return but failed to back that up in headgear in Bangor.

Form: 4369-45

Forecasts

Imperial Nemesis (3/1), Joey Steel (4/1), Invincible Cave (5/1), Glorious Boru (11/2), Magic River (6/1), Away For Slates (8/1), Granitic (12/1), Midnight Calamity (28/1)

This is probably on the stamina limit for AWAY FOR SLATES, but a couple of placed efforts at Lingfield during the autumn read well in the context of this race, so he looks the way to go. This isn't a convincing bunch, but Granitic does at least return from a break with his yard in excellent form.
