Winner in France this summer for Francois Nicolle. Turned over at short odds by a stablemate on British debut at Wincanton (15.3f, good), but should nevertheless go close if settling better this time.

Placed on 2 of his 3 starts in maidens at up to 1½m on the Flat for Dermot Weld. Bred for this game and one to note in the betting on hurdles debut.

Useful on the Flat (probably stays 1¾m) in Ireland. Sold out of Andrew Oliver's yard for 42,000 gns in October and interesting recruit to this sphere.

Modest maiden on the Flat, but makes his hurdles debut on the back of a creditable effort over 1¼m at Redcar (first run following a wind op) and place possibilities if taking to this game.

Fair maiden on the Flat for Roger Varian, but well held both starts over hurdles to date, including in the Catterick race won by Kings Creek.

Fair performer on the Flat, winner of 1m Gowran handicap last time. Subsequently sold for 5,000 gns and stamina doubts ahead of this hurdles debut for new connections.

Timeform
Fair maiden on the Flat and hurdles debut effort at Newcastle (16.2f, good) last month was not devoid of promise. However, step in wrong direction at Catterick (race won by Kings Creek) recently.
|
Timeform
Dual winner on the Flat (both on AW), the latest a 1¼m Newcastle handicap in October. However, he's opposable on debut in this sphere.

Forecasts

Hacker Des Places (6/4), El Jefe (16/5), Danger Money (10/3), Kings Creek (6/1), Caldwell (15/2), En Couleur (8/1), Sir Charles Punch (14/1), Flight Command (14/1), Herbiers (16/1), Spantik (25/1), Fahad (80/1)

Verdict

There's no reason to believe that KINGS CREEK was in any way flattered by his recent breakthrough success at Catterick and, if able to build on that here, he may well follow up. Hacker des Places was a costly loser starting out on this side of the Channel at Wincanton, but he is feared all the same. Flat-recruits Danger Money and Caldwell both need close attention in the betting.

  2. HACKER DES PLACES (FR)
