Promise in bumpers and has found only a pair of Paul Nicholls inmates too good on both starts over hurdles, going like the best horse at the weights over C&D last time. Leading claims.

Timeform
Runner-up sole start in points in March but has only hinted at ability both Rules starts (maiden/novice).
|
Timeform
Has yet to better modest form over hurdles but again showed a bit at Chepstow last time and will be more interesting in handicaps in due course.
|
Timeform
Out of a 17f-21f hurdle/chase winner and shaped with promise when runner-up on debut in a 2½m Ffos Las maiden last month. Should come on for that run and well worth considering.
|
Timeform
Good pedigree but made an unpromising start to his career when down the field in an Ascot bumper last month, running green. Goes hurdling now up in trip.
|
Timeform
Ex-pointer who showed a bit before seemingly going amiss in a novice at Wetherby on hurdling debut. Much more like it when second at Bangor since, though flattered by his proximity to the easy winner.

Runner-up sole start in Irish points and shaped as if needing the run when third of 13 in a Newton Abbot bumper on Rules debut in October, tying up late on. Clearly thought capable of better.
|
Timeform
Winning pointer who was thrown in the deep end for his hurdling debut when well held at Cheltenham 15 days ago, but should do better now at a more realistic level.

Well held in a Doncaster bumper/2 hurdle runs. Has had a wind operation since latest start.

Looked smart prospect when landing back-to-back Exeter bumpers in 2017/18. Very lightly raced since and went backwards from his reappearance at Uttoxeter last time. Wears first-time hood/tongue tie.

Forecasts

Gladiateur Allen (5/2), Champagne Rhythm (3/1), Time To Move On (5/1), Pozo Emery (5/1), Pennyforapound (7/1), Promising Milan (10/1), No Hubs No Hoobs (14/1), Gastara (33/1), Fevertre (50/1), Regaby (150/1)

Verdict

CHAMPAGNE RHYTHM is clearly capable of winning a race of this nature on the evidence of both his starts in this sphere, so he receives the vote to make it third time lucky. Pozo Emery was strong in the betting for a Newton Abbot bumper back in October, so is clearly quite well thought of ahead of this switch to hurdling, with Gladiateur Allen also feared following a promising debut at Ffos Las.
