15/2, good second of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 25 days ago, suited by way race developed. Nudged up just 1 lb (remains on a handy mark judged on 2019 form) and he's one to consider.

C&D winner. 40/1, creditable third of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 22 days ago. Probably weighed up to his best and looks vulnerable.

Course winner. 12/1, below form sixth of 15 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 54 days ago. Step back up in trip looks a good move and very much feared off 2 lb lower on debut for new yard.

Latest win at Chester in September. 5½ lengths fourth of 6 to Athmad in handicap at this C&D (10/1) 10 days ago. Didn't enjoy the best of runs that day and now 6 lb better off with the winner.

Three wins from 12 runs this year. Won 6-runner handicap at this C&D (12/1) 10 days ago, suited by emphasis on speed. 4 lb rise may be enough to find him out.

Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Newcastle (10.2f) 42 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Hood back on. Others more persuasive from a win point of view.

Twice-raced maiden. 9/4, hampered when fourth of 8 in minor event at Newcastle (8f) on latest start in February. Gelded since and interesting contender upped in trip on this handicap debut.

Forecasts

Sandret (3/1), Athmad (10/3), Blow Your Horn (7/2), The Met (7/2), Society Red (10/1), Howzer Black (18/1), My Target (20/1), Reclaim Victory (28/1)

Verdict

Preference is for THE MET, who shaped well back on the all-weather when sixth of 15 in a competitive Chelmsford handicap in October. Eased 2 lb since, he's down to a career-low mark, is 2-2 at this course and should benefit from this step back up in trip. Sandret returned to form when going close at Newcastle and is next best ahead of handicap-debutant Blow Your Horn.
