Landed first hurdle success at Hexham (2m) in September before striking back on the Flat at Newcastle. However, out with the washing at Cheltenham (16.4f) last time and probably worth taking on.

Posted much his best effort yet when hitting the crossbar in a 12-runner Market Rasen handicap hurdle (20.6f) last time. Up 3 lb, but each-way chance if able to build on that effort.

Has shown glimmers of ability, but beaten a long way on return in a Carlisle novice upped to this trip and a big step forward needed now pitched into a handicap.

Left inauspicious reappearance well behind with an improved display on handicap debut at Market Rasen (20.6f), finishing third of 12 off a 1 lb lower mark. Needs considering.

Showed much improved form when second of 11 in novice hurdle at Newton Abbot (18.5f) in September. Stamina appeared to give way upped to 3m at Ludlow since and possibilities back down in trip here.

Point winner who was runner-up on second of her 3 starts over hurdles for Oliver Sherwood last term. Clearly wasn't 100% when last seen at Doncaster and worth a second look on debut for new yard.

Runner-up on completed start in points, but efforts under Rules have been fair at best and can only be watched back from an absence of more than 2 years.

Showed ability in novice events and no surprise that he improved when third of 11 on handicap debut at Wetherby (21.2f). May have more to offer and should be in the mix if responding well to blinkers.

Has performed with credit both starts in handicaps hurdles over 2m/20.6f for new yard following a 19-month absence. Should have a race in her off this sort of mark and she's one to consider.

:Ended last season with a couple of solid placed efforts at Huntingdon. However, well held both starts since returning to action in October and now tried in cheekpieces.

Much better efforts in 19.8f Sedgefield handicap hurdles with cheekpieces enlisted the last twice. The burning question is whether he'll be in the same form with the headgear omitted this time?

Winning pointer, but hasn't achieved anything under Rules to date and hopes pinned on wind operation sparking improvement here. 8 lb 'wrong' at the weights.

Forecasts

Roses Poses (5/2), Cyrus Keep (4/1), Jack Thunder (13/2), Master Newton (17/2), Craic Magic (10/1), Say The Word (11/1), San Rumoldo (12/1), Spirit Of Waterloo (12/1), Wheesht (22/1), Calvinist (40/1), Cheer's Delboy (40/1), Yorvik (40/1), Movin'on Up (150/1)

Verdict

CYRUS KEEP made an encouraging handicap debut off this mark at Wetherby and, providing the first-time blinkers have the desired effect, he could be the answer to this open-looking contest. If at least matching the form of his latest effort, Craic Magic should be on the premises, along with Roses Poses and Spirit of Waterloo. Also shortlisted is Wheesht, who showed ability as a novice last season.
