Half-brother to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Authinger but is 0-16 on the level (fair form), including for this yard. Work to do.

Fairly useful Flat performer in Germany but was off over 2 years and showed nothing back from a wind op on hurdles debut at Ascot for new yard.

€190,000 purchase in 2018 from a cracking NH family (dam an unraced sister to Kicking King). Easy to back and well held in Exeter bumper on New Year's Day but could show plenty more now jumping.

Useful stayer on the level, ran respectably in the Cesarewitch last month. Rare jumps runner for trainer (had another at Exeter on Wednesday) and plenty of ability if taking to the game.

From the family of useful hurdler Forecast but he's just a modest maiden at up to a mile on the Flat.

Built plenty on the form of his 2 thirds last season when opening account in Newton Abbot bumper on return, his experience and the emphasis on speed big plusses. Worth a look on hurdles bow.

From a fantastic NH family and not unbacked when finishing lame in Chepstow bumper in January. Better than that and could make an impact on hurdles bow if all is well.

Maiden who went the wrong way on the level for Roger Charlton in 2018 and not seen since a crunching early fall on hurdles bow for this yard in August 2019. Has had a wind op and tongue tie goes on.

Fair 1¼m Flat winner who has shown quite a bit over hurdles, though he faded in 2m Fakenham handicap a fortnight ago and suspect he'll prove vulnerable in this too.

Verdict

Not a strong-looking maiden and useful Flat stayer DIOCLETIAN could have what it takes to make his mark in this sphere at the first attempt if taking to it for Andrew Balding. Onemorefortheroad opened his account in a Newton Abbot bumper on his return last month and is respected now hurdling. Well-bred The Hoax could do better now jumping if all is well.
