€100,000 purchase who was third in a Market Rasen bumper in February before making a promising start to his hurdle career when fourth at Bangor in September. Leading claims with improvement likely.

No show in bumper/2 hurdles.

Flat maiden winner Ireland last year but little impact in 3 starts for Archie Watson this year ahead of this switch to a new yard for hurdle debut with a hood added.

Has shown ability when fifth in a bumper and novice hurdle this autumn but will need to raise his game to go close.

Passing Glance half-brother to connections' unreliable but fairly useful hurdler/chaser Master Burbidge and fair hurdler Midnight Sequel. This quite a belated debut but betting the best guide.

Fair stayer on Flat. Coming to hurdles rather later in the day but this doesn't look the strongest novice so he could play a part.

Useful on Flat in Germany in 2019. 85/40, well-held sixth on recent Wincanton hurdle debut after 14 months off but in top hands and wouldn't be a surprise if he proved different proposition now.

Fair 12f Flat winner but only poor form in a couple of starts over hurdles this autumn and likely he's more one for handicaps.

Won sole point. 5/1, let down by jumping when pulled up in Uttoxeter maiden hurdle on Rules debut in September. Had wind surgery since and sports a hood/tongue-trap combination. May do better.

Forecasts

Across The Line (4/7), Velasco (5/1), Secret Potion (10/1), No Worries (10/1), Overhaugh Street (14/1), Grey Felix (14/1), Temur Khan (40/1), Clockers Corner (66/1), Timeforadance (125/1), A Falling Star (250/1)

Verdict

Dan Skelton won this race 12 months ago and has good prospects of landing the second division of it this time round courtesy of ACROSS THE LINE who made an encouraging start to his hurdle career at Bangor at the end of September. Secret Potion is surely better than he showed on his hurdle debut and could pose a threat, with Velasco another who could leave his opening hurdle run behind him.

  1. ACROSS THE LINE (IRE)
  2. SECRET POTION (GER)
  3. VELASCO (IRE)
