Started out for this yard in good form with a pair of handicap chase wins in 2018/19. Not seen again until a remote fourth at Huntingdon last month but could strip fitter with that behind him.

Both wins gained over hurdles back in 2016. Winless following 20 attempts in this sphere and ran poorly here when last seen in March.

Best effort when runner-up over 2½m at Perth in August. Not in anything like the same form over 3m back there since but every chance if he can bounce back to the level of that penultimate run.

Modest maiden but one of his best efforts was when second over C&D in January. Not disgraced at Carlisle the following month and likely to have a say if primed for this return.

Improved to spring 40/1 surprise in Hexham handicap last month. Has reached the frame on all 3 outings since and ought to be thereabouts again.

Forecasts

Asking For Answers (9/4), General Bux (7/2), Costly Dream (9/2), Walkin In The Rain (6/1), Cockle Bay (15/2), Farran Dancer (12/1), Imperial Prince (16/1)

Verdict

It's perhaps worth taking the view that GENERAL BUX simply needed the run on his recent return from an absence as he'd be more than capable of winning a race of this nature if retaining anything like his old ability. Costly Dream has built up a fairly solid record in similar events this autumn and may prove next best ahead of Asking For Answers.
