Half-brother to 2 bumper winners and made promising start when second at Fontwell in April 2019. Not in same form at Ascot 6 months later but returns from wind op with his yard among the winners.

Beaten favourite on Chepstow debut a year ago but he shaped well in travelling powerfully for long way. Given time since (had wind op) and good chance he'll pack more punch at finish now. Tongue tied.

Sea The Stars gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners on Flat, including smart 6f-7f winner Solomon's Bay. Dam 1½m winner. Has a reasonable pedigree for race like this. Check betting.

Denounce gelding. Half-brother to poor hurdler Snazz Man. Dam (h99) 2m hurdle winner, also 1m winner on Flat. Would be a surprise winner on debut.

Malinas gelding. Dam (h105) 2m hurdle winner, also 9.5f winner on Flat. Wears hood. Yard has a useful bumper performer under its care in Socialist Agenda so market support worth noting.

Richard Johnson up for Rules debut but third was the best this 5-y-o managed in 6 Irish points.

£10,000 Sulamani half-brother to yard's smart chaser On The Slopes. May need a greater stamina than this sort of race is likely to provide but betting probably the best guide.

Second in a Fakenham bumper in April 2019 but didn't get close to building on that when well held here 7 months later. Off a further 10 months.

Forecasts

Glenlivet (5/2), Brilliant Present (16/5), Castledhem (13/2), Duke Of Chalfont (8/1), Dancing Doris (17/2), Tungsten Tom (11/1), Hawa Bladi (12/1), Pasvolsky (14/1), Mr Dougal (22/1), Sami Bear (33/1), Jeffreys Bay (125/1), Kingmon's Boy (200/1)

Verdict

GLENLIVET was a lot better than a sixth place suggests on his soft-ground debut a year ago as he loomed up going well 2f out. He's had wind surgery since (also tongue tied) and there's every chance he'll see things out much better faced with a sharper test now. Nicky Henderson does very well in bumpers and the main threat could easily come from his pair Duke of Chalfont and Brilliant Present.

  1. GLENLIVET (IRE)
  2. DUKE OF CHALFONT (FR)
  3. BRILLIANT PRESENT (IRE)
