Bumper winner. Running well when unseating 2 out in listed event on hurdle debut. Let down by jumping next time but that was at Grade 2 level and his sights are lowered on return after a wind op.

Well held in points. Ran to only a poor level on hurdle debut in Ireland in August but the booking of Richard Johnson is interesting having switched yards since. Keep an eye on in betting.

Fifth the best he managed in 4 points so it's probably safe to look elsewhere now switching his attention to hurdles.

Came good at the fourth time of asking in bumpers at Newton Abbot in August. That form nothing special but he sets out over hurdles in a race lacking depth.

Comfortably held in 2 bumpers/hurdles for Kim Bailey this summer. Needs to have improved markedly for a change of stable.

In the frame in a pair of Market Rasen bumpers this summer. In good hands and he ought to be up to making his presence felt in a race like this now hurdling.

Second on Newcastle bumper debut but well below that level in 2 subsequent starts in that sphere, including at Sedgefield 14 days ago. Has a tongue tie added for hurdle debut.

66/1, never a threat when eighth of 10 in bumper at Newton Abbot (17f, good) last month. Likely outsider now quickly switching to hurdles.

50/1, down the field in a Fontwell bumper last month. Hard to fancy.

Only sixth on his completed start in points so likely best watched on this Rules debut.

Brother to bumper winner/useful hurdler Sevarano (19f-21f winner). Dam, lightly raced in bumpers, half-sister to useful chaser Champagne Mystery. Check betting on debut.

Maiden pointer so hardly strikes as an obvious one to strike on this belated Rules debut.

Verdict

BENSON's jumping is a slight concern but this is a significant drop in class for him having contested listed/Grade 2 events on his first 2 hurdle starts in February and this useful bumper winner could be a cut above this opposition. Fellow bumper scorer Courtland could be a threat, while Olly Murphy's Dens Delight also offered enough in bumpers to suggest he can make an impact over hurdles.

  3. DENS DELIGHT (FR)
