Fairly useful bumper/hurdles winner and quickly made up into an even better chaser last season. Disappointing second at Doncaster on final outing 9 months ago and mark looks stiff back in this sphere.

Fairly useful winning hurdler for Joseph O'Brien, better than the result when down the field at Downpatrick in August. Looks to have been dealt with rather harshly by the BHA, though.

Dual scorer over hurdles last season and shaped better than the result when third at Doncaster 7 months ago, so might not have finished improving. Warrants respect on reappearance.

Fairly useful hurdler for John Halley in Ireland whose new stable look to have him on the right path, a good third in first-time cheekpieces at Plumpton 12 days ago. Very much one to consider.

Built on encouraging hurdles debut with all-the-way success in 2m Southwell maiden in December. Similar efforts since but mark looks too high and he's liable to need this first run for 6 months.

Fair on Flat/over hurdles, upping his game to get off the mark in this discipline in a Fakenham handicap 6 months ago. 7-lb rise likely enough to stop him going in again, though.

Fairly useful on Flat and good return to hurdling when second at Newbury in November. Disappointing subsequently, including back on the level.

Fairly useful on Flat in France (stays 1¾m) and matched that form on his first go in a handicap hurdle over C&D last time, staying on well into second. Worth backing to go one better.

Generally below form last season but mark is much reduced as a result and capable of running well fresh, so not a forlorn hope on reappearance.

Fair in bumpers and in good order over hurdles last winter, a creditable fourth at Taunton when last seen 8 months ago. Needs a career best with fitness not assured, though.

Forecasts

Vorashann (3/1), Baddesley Knight (10/3), First Lord De Cuet (11/2), Miss Heritage (11/2), Ena Baie (6/1), Foreign Secretary (10/1), Nebuchadnezzar (12/1), Jackson Hill (14/1), Shut The Box (16/1), Westbrook Bertie (25/1), King Pellinor (40/1)

Verdict

VORASHANN fared best of those held up when a promising second over C&D on handicap debut and, with few miles on the clock, looks open to further improvement, so he's a confident selection to go one better. Foreign Secretary is also appealing on just his third outing for Dr Richard Newland, while Miss Heritage could get involved if ready to go on reappearance.

  2. FOREIGN SECRETARY
  3. MISS HERITAGE (IRE)
