Right back to his best when driven clear to land a 6-runner Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) handicap. This is more demanding up 5 lb, but he's clearly in good nick and should be on the premises.

Well beaten in mares' novice at the Cheltenham Festival in March, but was holding her own in listed company prior to that. Fit from the Flat and merits respect on handicap debut in this sphere.

Two of her 3 wins last summer came over this C&D, and added to her tally at Stratford in August. However, wasn't allowed to dominate when well held off this mark next time. Yard also runs Beach Break.

Improved when making a winning handicap debut at Warwick (2m, soft) in February. Resumes on 8 lb higher mark and faster ground likely, but this low-mileage 6-y-o needs considering nonetheless.

Made it 2-3 here when winning well over C&D last August. By no means disgraced back in this sphere (fit from the Flat) at Stratford in July, but will probably find one or two too good once more.

Dual hurdles winner for Kevin Ryan in 2018. Placed both starts for new yard during 2019/20 campaign and should have a part to play if fully tuned-up following an 8-month absence. Cheekpieces refitted.

Quickly made into a useful chaser last season and good in-frame efforts upon returning in July. However, recent efforts haven't been overly inspiring and bounce back needed now reverting to hurdles.

Looked good when registering back-to-back victories at Southwell in August. Too free on handicap bow in this sphere at Stratford and well worth another chance off what may be a fair mark.

Forecasts

Teqany (3/1), Beach Break (7/2), El Borracho (4/1), Ask Himself (6/1), Midnights' Gift (7/1), Kajaki (10/1), Valentino Dancer (10/1), Tidal Watch (14/1), See The Sea (16/1)

Verdict

Though disappointing on his first run in a handicap over hurdles at Stratford, EL BORRACHO is well worth another chance. Indeed, he beat subsequent winners when scoring twice at Southwell last month and, if settling better this time, he could take some stopping. Cases can be made for the majority of the others, with Kajaki and Teqany greatly respected, while Ask Himself remains with potential.

  1. EL BORRACHO (IRE)
  2. KAJAKI (IRE)
  3. TEQANY (IRE)
