Ended 2019 on a high, rattling off a 4-timer at Nottingham (10.2f) in November. Has struggled from inflated mark upon returning this term and a return to softer ground may help ideally.

Relished a switch to fibresand earlier in the year, scoring twice in February and continued the good work at Leicester in June, knuckling down well. Respected up at 10f from 3 lb higher mark.

Better signs at Newbury/Sandown prior to opening his account over 1m here 2 weeks ago, not doing much when hitting the front but picking up his rivals with ease. Possible there is more to come.

Zoffany filly who stepped up plenty on debut form when runner-up at Newcastle (10f) in August. Seemed unsuited by underfoot conditions/track at Newmarket but she retains potential now handicapping.

2-y-o 7f winner who ended last term on a low-key note, well beaten on each of his last 3 starts on the Flat. Better signs in a juvenile hurdle for new yard thereafter but others more persuasive here.

Losing run is mounting up but mark has eased as a result and his latest Goodwood third was very much a return to form. Ease back down in trip a likely plus and not ruled out.

Enhanced good record fresh when successful on return at Windsor (11.5f, good to firm) in June. However, consistency not his strong suit and disappointing on 3 of his 4 subsequent starts.

Verdict

VULCAN confirmed the promise of previous placed efforts to shed the maiden tag over 1m here 2 weeks ago. The manner of that performance suggests there may well be more to come and he gets the nod to follow up. Straitouttacompton was in excellent form when last seen and is feared, along with Silent Performance and Central City.
