Jet Master Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 16:35 | Winning time: 4m 8.69s

Tegerek^h¹⁹⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 12-5| J: K Brogan⁽⁷⁾| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 122| BF| D

4/1

Fairly useful on the Flat in France and came good over hurdles with a hood added at Huntingdon (2m, heavy) in March. Good second at Taunton 8 days later and he has to enter calculations.

Form: 2/30412-

Blooriedotcom²¹¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-12| J: Blair Campbell⁽³⁾| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR: 115| D

8/1

In fine form during the winter, scoring twice over 2m at Musselburgh. This career-high mark demands improvement, but given his age it's entirely possible that he has more to offer.

Form: F53121-

Vengeur De Guye^t²⁰¹

Age: 11| Weight: 11-11| J: Thomas Willmott⁽⁵⁾| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR: 114| CD

25/1

Well prepared following 9 months off when landing a handicap chase at Kelso last October. However, most recent efforts in this sphere have lacked spark and Blooriedotcom appears to be the stable No 1.

Form: 103472-

Globetrotter²⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-11| J: Henry Brooke| T: D Brooke| OR: 114| D

12/1

Winner of a 15-runner Hexham maiden on second of his 2 starts over hurdles in 2018. Ability remains intact judged on efforts on the Flat in recent months, but improvement needed back in this sphere.

Form: 31/

Romeo Brown²¹⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-10| J: Ross Chapman| T: P A Kirby| OR: 113| D

14/1

Runner-up in a Newcastle bumper when on latest start in February. That was a good effort, but he has failed to complete on 3 of his last 4 starts in this sphere.

Form: 0FF5P2-

Chef De Troupe¹⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-10| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 113| BF| D

6/1

Encouraging return from an 11-month absence when fourth at Uttoxeter in July. Below par next time, but dangerous to discount given that was runner-up over this C&D twice off higher marks last year.

Form: 1022-44

Chez Hans³⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 11-6| J: Harry Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 109

13/8

Showed ability in trio of runs over hurdles last winter. Fit from the Flat and has to be taken seriously on handicap debut in this sphere off a potentially handy opening mark.

Form: 474-

Wakool²⁴⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 11-2| J: Lucy Alexander| T: N W Alexander| OR: 105

8/1

Placed all 3 starts on the Flat in France and made it third time lucky over hurdles on handicap debut at Doncaster (16.6f) in January. 5 lb rise fair and probably capable of better still.

Form: 431-

Mcgarry²²

Age: 6| Weight: 10-9| J: Thomas Dowson| T: P A Kirby| OR: 98

50/1

Irish point winner who has failed to make an impact under Rules so far, beaten a long way on return at Hexham 22 days ago. Yard also saddles Adelphi Prince.

Form: 55048-9

Billy Ray^t1⁵⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 10-8| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR: 97

22/1

Useful at best on the Flat, but largely disappointing for present stable and hopes pinned on first-time tongue strap sparking improvement now making his handicap debut in this sphere.

Form: 35-6

Adelphi Prince¹⁹⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 10-6| J: Sean Quinlan| T: P A Kirby| OR: 95

25/1

Low-mileage 7-y-o who was in excellent form when last seen out in the spring, wandering late on when edged out at Sedgefield in March. Each-way claims if ready to roll following a 6-month break.

Form: 905/342-

Non-Runners

Kajaki²⁵¹

Weight: 12-5| Age: 7

T: N G Richards J: B S Hughes

First Quest³¹⁸

Weight: 11-10| Age: 6

Dream Machine³¹

Forecasts

Chez Hans (13/8), Tegerek (4/1), Chef De Troupe (6/1), Kajaki (7/1), Wakool (8/1), Blooriedotcom (8/1), Globetrotter (12/1), Dream Machine (12/1), Romeo Brown (14/1), First Quest (14/1), Billy Ray (22/1), Vengeur De Guye (25/1), Adelphi Prince (25/1), Mcgarry (50/1)

While cases can be made for several of these, 4-y-os WAKOOL and Chez Hans could be the pair to concentrate on. The latter is not passed over lightly off what looks a very fair opening mark in this sphere, but Wakool arguably possesses even greater scope and he gets the nod. Kajaki and Tegerek are live each-way contenders and First Quest should also have a part to play if fully tuned-up.
