Ayrshire Cancer Support Handicap (Div 1)
Class 4 | 7f 50y | Good to Soft (Soft in Places) | 13 Runners | Turf
Off time: 16:01 | Winning time: 1m 33.33s
Good second of 12 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good to soft, 17/2) 10 days ago. That was very much a return to form and possibilities if backing that up from same mark.
Course winner. Twenty five runs since last win in 2017. 11/1, respectable third of 10 in handicap at Haydock (7f, soft) 13 days ago. Clearly in good heart but losing run an obvious concern.
C&D winner. Latest win here in August. 8/1, seventh of 10 in handicap at Haydock (7f, soft) 13 days ago. No surprise to see him bounce back.
Cheekpieces on for 1st time, good third of 12 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good to soft, 14/1) 10 days ago, running on. Enters calculations.
Latest win at Thirsk in June. Bit below form eighth of 15 in handicap (40/1) at Thirsk (8f, good to soft) 13 days ago, hampered. Not the easiest to weigh up.
C&D winner. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 10 in handicap at Haydock (7f, soft, 22/1) 13 days ago. Application of a first-time visor needs to have a positive effect now.
Latest win at Thirsk in June. 16/1, below form fifth of 12 in handicap at Catterick (7f, heavy) 23 days ago. Others more persuasive.
Last of 8 in handicap at Redcar (8f, heavy) 19 days ago. His previous effort over 1m here was a step back in the right direction and return to 7f a likely plus.
Course winner. Latest win here in August. 10/1, below form fourth of 11 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.2f, good) 11 days ago.
Last of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, firm, 10/1) 40 days ago, not helping his cause by failing to settle. Mark continues to slide and this less demanding than of late.
Latest win at Musselburgh in July. Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap (9/1) at Haydock (7.2f, soft) 7 days ago. Expected to give it a good shot on the front end again.
Temperamental sort. Twenty two runs since last win in 2017. Twelfth of 14 in handicap (12/1) at Haydock (6f, soft) 7 days ago. Back up in trip. Others preferred.
8½ lengths last of 11 to Hajjam in handicap at this course (8f, good to soft, 15/2) 24 days ago, dwelt in rear and never landing a blow. Needs to bounce back.
Alix James (7/2), The Great Heir (5/1), Presidential (6/1), Danielsflyer (7/1), Hajjam (15/2), Black Friday (8/1), Mischief Star (8/1), Yoshimi (10/1), Boston George (16/1), Right Action (18/1), Swiss Knight (22/1), Gravity Force (25/1), Cassy O (33/1), Al Qahwa (40/1)
PRESIDENTIAL dispelled a couple of lesser efforts when second at Leicester 10 days ago and, with plenty of other good runs to his name from this sort of mark, he's fancied to make another bold bid. Danielsflyer has plied his trade in higher class handicaps as a rule and arrives in form so he's feared for all his losing run is a concern. Mischief Star and Yoshimi complete the shortlist.
