EBF Novice Stakes
Class 5 | 1m | Good to Soft (Soft in Places) | 9 Runners | Turf
Off time: 14:01 | Winning time: 1m 46.35s
Backed at long odds and overcame inexperience to make a winning debut in good style at Beverley (7.4f) 3 weeks ago. Better to come.
Foaled January 24. Australia colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 1m-2m winner Three Castles and 2-y-o 7f winner Lady McGuffy. Dam 1m winner who stayed 10.5f.
Bred for longer trip and shaped in kind when 5¾ lengths third of 11 to Northern Express in 7.4f novice at Beverley (good) on debut 21 days ago. Open to improvement.
Foaled April 22. $23,000 yearling, Fed Biz colt. Dam unraced. Market for clues.
Showed ability when fifth of 8 in novice (10/3) at York (7f, good) on debut 11 days ago and should improve.
Already gelded ahead of debut but nevertheless showed ability when neck second of 8 in 7f York novice 11 days ago. That wasn't much of a race but he's entitled to improve.
Foaled March 19. €25,000 yearling, Nathaniel colt. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 9.5f-11f winner General Hazard and 1¼m-13.3f winner San Quentin. Dam 1m-9.5f winner.
Foaled May 1. €140,000 yearling, Kingman colt. Half-brother to 1m winner Sannkala and 9.5f-11f winner Sanabad. Interesting to see what the market makes of him.
Foaled May 1. Holy Roman Emperor filly. Dam once-raced half-sister to winner up to 1¼m (stayed 13f) Power Elite and 5f/6f winner La Sylvia (both useful).
Northern Express (1/1), Simons King (7/2), Carter Cowboy (13/2), Eclipse De Lunar (8/1), Baileys Derbyday (11/1), Mcgivern (14/1), Annandale (18/1), Prince Ali (25/1), Ravenscraig Castle (28/1), Carn A Chlamain (66/1), Ayr Empress (100/1)
NORTHERN EXPRESS looked better the further he went when making a winning debut in good style at Beverley 3 weeks ago, so he's taken to defy a penalty over this slightly longer trip. Simons King is an interesting newcomer being a well-bred son of Kingman, so it will be interesting to see how he holds up in the betting.
