Downside Novice Stakes (Plus 10)
Class 3 | 7f | Good (good to firm in places) | 7 Runners | Turf
Off time: 15:25 | Winning time: 1m 32.08s
Dandy Man colt who was sent off at big odds but showed ability when midfield in a Kempton maiden (1m) 2 weeks ago, not knocked about when chance had gone. Better to come.
Foaled March 30. Shanghai Bobby colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 2-y-o 8.4f winner Rule The Waves. Market should guide on debut.
Foaled February 23. Toronado colt. Dam, 7f winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to 1½m winners Oneiric and Abounding (stayed 2m). Interesting newcomer.
The Gurkha colt who was easy to back and showed only greenness when seventh of 9 in a Newmarket novice (7f) in August. Needs to step up plenty to feature.
Foaled May 16. $825,000 yearling, Speightstown colt. Half-brother to several winners, including US 1m/8.5f winner Figarella's Queen. Dam US 1m-1¼m (Grade 1) winner. Appealing newcomer for leading yard
Shalaa colt who was easy to back but showed plenty of ability when sixth in a C&D maiden last month. In excellent hands and he's very much the type to improve.
Foaled May 6. 45,000 gns foal, 55,000 gns yearling, Iffraaj colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 11f winner Night of England and 2-y-o 1m winner Normandie. Dam German 11f winner.
My Swallow (5/6), Ebnzaidoon (5/2), Villeurbanne (12/1), Dejame Paso (12/1), Bullace (16/1), Beijing Billy (20/1), Beastie Boy (22/1), Entwine (33/1)
MY SWALLOW proved friendless in the betting but showed plenty of ability nevertheless when sixth in a C&D maiden that promises to throw up plenty of winners 24 days ago. He can put that experience to good use and make it second time lucky. Ebnzaidoon is a very appealing newcomer for the powerful John Gosden stable and is feared, along with Beastie Boy.
