Quickly dispelled a lesser effort at Haydock when staying on strongly to open his account at Ayr (6f) in July. Improved further when supplementing that on nursery debut at York and he's of interest.

Fourth in Coventry at Royal Ascot prior to landing odds in 7f Wolverhampton novice. Seemed to have limitations exposed in Group company the last twice and this is slightly easier. Blinkers on.

£85,000 yearling, Pivotal colt. Half-brother to fair 7f winner Bound For Heaven. Shaped well when third on Redcar debut but this is a big ask just 12 days on.

Yarmouth debut winner who has since chased Tactical home in Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and July Stakes at Newmarket. Quirky side again in evidence at York and a visor replaces blinkers.

Close relation to Major Jumbo who showed a cracking attitude when landing a 5-runner maiden here in June. Sound fourth in a similar sales race at York 3 weeks ago and limit not yet reached.

Maiden but continued theme of race-by-race progress when second of 8 in a 7f nursery at Ascot in July. Off since but a well-run race here will suit (travelled strongly on that occasion).

Cashed in on lenient opening mark minus blinkers in a 4-runner nursery at Yarmouth in July and duly followed up from 5 lb higher at Ascot, This asks a different question but he's going the right way.

Sharper for debut but still had to overcome some lingering inexperience to prevail in 7f Glorious Goodwood maiden, asserting close home. Never really a threat pitched into the Acomb last time.

Foaled April 20. 125,000 gns yearling, Havana Gold colt. Half-brother to smart winner up to 6f Dubai Station. Dam maiden (stayed 8.5f). Tough environment for a newcomer.

Found one too good on first 3 starts and cashed in on a disappointing display from market rival when off the mark at Musselburgh 2 weeks ago. Bred for further but does look all speed currently.

Made an encouraging start to her career when second of 8 in 6f York novice in July, sticking to task. Unable to land a blow in a sales race at Naas a month later but she retains potential.

Verdict

CAIRN ISLAND is by a speedy sire but is related to plenty that stayed well and he has been noticeably strong at the finish when winning the last twice over 6f. This race should therefore be right up his street and though he has a bit to find with Yazaman that rival isn't one for maximum faith with connections reaching for more severe headgear. Uncle Jumbo also makes some appeal.
