Highly promising type. Won 5-runner minor event at Newmarket (8f, good to firm, 7/2) on debut, slowly away. Entered in next year's Derby and sets a good standard here.
Last of 10 in minor event (125/1) at this C&D on debut 17 days ago. Readily passed over.
Eighth of 11 in minor event (16/1) at Windsor (6f, good) on debut 80 days ago. Big step forward needed.
Foaled January 26. Charm Spirit gelding. Half-brother to smart 8.5f-1½m winner Falcao Negro, smart 1¼m winner Gipoia and useful 1m winner La Yakfi. Dam 2-y-o 1m winner. Watch the betting for clues.
Foaled March 25. 40,000 gns foal, 58,000 gns yearling, Kodi Bear gelding. Closely related to 6f winner Reconcile. Interesting to see what the market has to say.
Foaled March 5. £52,000 yearling, No Nay Never colt. Dam unraced. Yard's newcomers usually come on for a run but he's certainly worth a second look in the betting.
Foaled March 6. €4,000 foal, 160,000 gns yearling. Half-brother to 9f winner Kominik and smart 8.3f-1¼m winner Fifth Position. Dam French 15f winner. Makes plenty of appeal on paper.
Foaled April 10. Dark Angel colt. Half-brother to 7f winner No More Thrills. Dam, 2-y-o 5f winner, half-sister to high-class 6f/7f winner Muarrab. Another who needs a market check.
Foaled February 17. €100,000 foal, 180,000 gns yearling. Closely related to 3 winners, including useful 7f/1m winner Smuggler's Moon and ungenuine 1¾m-2m winner Road To Paris. Market check advised.
Once-raced maiden. 25/1, last of 9 in minor event at Windsor (6f, good to soft) on debut 6 days ago. Likely to struggle once more.
Last of 10 in minor event at Haydock (8f, good, 11/1) on debut 24 days ago. Will need to leave that form well behind if he's to have a say in the finish.
Foaled April 12. $800,000 yearling, War Front colt. Noteworthy newcomer from a top yard and it will look significant if there's confidence behind him in the betting.
Last of 10 in minor event (50/1) at this C&D on debut 23 days ago. Probably more one for the longer term.
Forecasts
Megallan (4/5), Secret Protector (5/2), Rich Waters (9/1), Decisive Edge (11/1), Ertikaaz (14/1), Ibiza Rocks (33/1), Beautiful Bertie (66/1), Cotai Bear (66/1), Attlee (66/1), Jebel Dukhan (80/1), Saorsa (150/1), Papas Champ (250/1), Ak Fortyseven (300/1)
Despite the penalty and wide draw, MEGALLAN will prove hard to beat, unless one of the newcomers turns out to be well above average. Out of a half-sister to Golden Horn, he was impressive on debut at Newmarket and looks a Group-class colt in the making. Secret Protector and Ertikaaz are the most appealing newcomers on show and the former, from stall one, is likely to emerge as the main danger.
- MEGALLAN
- SECRET PROTECTOR (USA)
- ERTIKAAZ (IRE)
