Did well on AW at the start of 2019 but out of sorts when last seen in December. Below last winning mark but others still preferred.
In good form on turf last autumn but disappointed at Chelmsford when last seen in November. Percentage call to look elsewhere after lay-off.
Has some solid 3-y-o only handicap form and ran up to his best when dead-heating with the reopposing Willkommen over C&D 10 weeks ago. Remains low mileage.
Off 5 months, best not judged on his ninth of 11 in handicap at Windsor (11.4f, good) 36 days ago as he clipped heels and stumbled badly after 2f. Has dropped 12 lb since the start of year.
Back-to-back wins at Lingfield (AW) and Windsor in June. Shaped as if still in form when seventh of 11 in handicap (11/2) at Windsor (10f, good to firm) 57 days ago. Has had wind surgery.
Polytrack winner in February. Runner-up in turf handicaps last twice. Cheekpieces added. Likely to remain competitive.
Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable second of 11 in handicap (12/1) at Wolverhampton (14f) 37 days ago. Down in trip. Makes polytrack debut. Respected.
Disappointed when tenth of 12 at Redcar (10f, good to firm) 36 days ago. but claims if recapturing the form he showed when second at Chepstow prior to that.
Fifth of 7 in handicap at Salisbury (1m, good to soft, 13/2) 11 days ago. Has had a few chances in handicaps so significantly longer trip will need to spark improvement.
Up markedly in trip and left qualifying runs behind when making winning handicap debut at Lingfield (AW) 18 days ag, well on top finish. 7 lb rise may not stop him with further improvement likely.
Forecasts
Rodrigo Diaz (11/10), Francisco Bay (11/2), Grey D'Ars (15/2), Swooping Eagle (8/1), Alvaro (17/2), Ray's The One (12/1), Willkommen (14/1), Willa (18/1), Settle Petal (33/1), Espresso Freddo (100/1), French Mix (125/1)
RODRIGO DIAZ was nicely on top at the finish when making a successful handicap debut at Lingfield last month and a 7 lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent the follow up with further progress on the cards. Alvaro, a winner on this surface, has been in good form on turf this summer and may provide the main threat ahead of Francisco Bay, who dead-heated with Willkommen over C&D in June.
- RODRIGO DIAZ
- ALVARO
- FRANCISCO BAY
