Matched his previous best when fifth of 13 in handicap at Hamilton (1m, soft) 30 days ago. Has a first-time hood added now.
Made a good return on turf when second at Pontefract in June but her 2 runs since have been disappointing.
Has shown he can be competitive off his mark on all 4 outings this term but remains a maiden after 13 starts so refitted cheekpieces will need to give him a bit extra.
Three-time C&D winner but 28 runs since last win in 2017. Did take a step back in the right direction when fourth at Beverley latest and can make his presence felt from reduced mark.
Gained third win in last 6 starts when seeing off 10 rivals in 1m Hamilton apprentice event 18 days ago. 4 lb rise unlikely to prevent another prominent showing with step back up in trip a help.
Respectable 4¾ lengths fourth of 11 to Brutalab in handicap at Hamilton (1m, good to soft) 18 days ago without shaping like a winner in waiting.
Fair form in maidens. Could only manage sixth in a couple of Wolverhampton handicaps at the beginning of the year but this less exposed than most of this opposition. Has cheekpieces on first time.
Off the mark when making all in C&D novice last month but not in the same form in a Beverley handicap since. Return to this venue needs to help. Cheekpieces also added.
Beaten double-figure margins in maiden/novice events but at least stands a more realistic chance now switching to handicaps.
Prominent racer who made a successful reappearance at Thirsk (1m, good) in June but unable to reproduce that at Haydock 19 days later.
Forecasts
Sands Chorus (7/4), Fox Kasper (10/3), Brutalab (5/1), Seven For A Pound (12/1), Blistering Barney (14/1), Iconic Code (14/1), Bankawi (16/1), Jamil (18/1), Grey Eminence (18/1), Hajey (22/1)
BRUTALAB has a good strike-rate in the last year and may be capable of defying the handicapper again. Sands Chorus is the exact opposite to the selection in terms of recent success but he's done well here in the past and is respected after showing better signs from his reduced mark last time. Grey Eminence is less exposed than most of these as a 3-y-o and is another who could go well.
- BRUTALAB
- SANDS CHORUS
- GREY EMINENCE
