Useful hurdler/chaser who was flying too high in Grade 2 National Spirit at Fontwell and failed to complete at Cheltenham earlier this year. Offered little back on the Flat at Newmarket on return.
Creditable second at Sedgefield in heavy ground back in February but failed to make any impact on a sounder surface at Market Rasen on return from 5 months off. Down to last winning mark over fences.
Picked up a rare win away from here when scoring at Fakenham (20f) on New Year's Day. Tailed off/pulled up on all 3 starts since and the handicapper relinquishes his grip a touch.
Back to best to score at Kelso (17f) in September, making all. However, he essentially doesn't seem the force of old and was well held after 9 months off at Southwell 13 days ago.
Front runner who has taken well to chasing, winning 3 races in the north last season. Disappointed after a spin on the Flat at Southwell last month so needs to bounce back.
Much improved as a chaser, producing a career best to win at Cheltenham in December. Ran well back over hurdles there since but was below form back over fences/back up in trip at Warwick in February.
Fairly useful winning hurdler/chaser in France but offered little on first outing since leaving A. Adeline De Boisbrunet after 8 months off at Wetherby back in November. Makes handicap chase debut.
Fine strike rate in his 13 months with this stable, winning six times, but handicapper has caught up with him based on last couple of starts at Perth, though he possibly still needed run last time.
Three-time winner last season who showed a bit more back over fences when fourth at Stratford 17 days ago. One to consider from a 3-lb lower mark.
Fairly useful hurdle winner who made has made an encouraging start over fences after 8 months off, improving from his debut to score on handicap bow at Uttoxeter 15 days ago. Leading player.
Fairly useful 3-time hurdles winner who showed benefit of reappearance to score at Stratford (17f, good to firm) last month. 7-lb rise makes it tougher but he should give a good account.
Forecasts
Yccs Portocervo (10/3), Tonto's Spirit (6/1), Court Royale (6/1), Northern Beau (15/2), King Alfonso (8/1), Demi Sang (9/1), Chesterfield (9/1), Ardera Cross (9/1), Wells De Lune (11/1), Theflyingportrait (50/1), Signifiant (50/1)
YCCS PORTOCERVO put it all together on just his second start over fences to score on his handicap bow at Uttoxeter just over a fortnight ago. With the promise of better to come, he should be able to defy a 4-lb rise. Northern Beau is feared most if finding his best form after six months off, ahead of last-time-out scorer Court Royale.
