Showed some ability when with Kevin Ryan despite not winning. Posted a respectable effort on his handicap/stable debut at Wolverhampton (7f, AW) last time out, when 3½L third. Drops 1lb and looks an each-way player.
Won his only juvenile start (7f, heavy) and here (1m½f, soft) as a 3yo, both when with Roger Varian. Has shown nothing like that form for this trainer, but took a step back in the right direction last time. Not ruled out from 2lb lower.
Triple winner from 1m½f (here on heavy) to 1m4f. 4lb higher today than that course win last September, but went very close last time and looks worth each-way consideration.
Dual 1m2f winner at Beverley, including on soft. Back on a handy mark, 1lb below when scoring there last September. Took a step back in the right direction last time, and not ruled out.
1-12, having broken her duck at the 11th attempt at Ayr (1m2f, soft) on her reappearance/stable debut last month. Wasn't far away when dropped back to 1m in classified company there last time and looks a contender.
0-20, but has run some good races in defeat, including here and also at Haydock last time (7f, good; first-time blinkers). Back up 1lb for that, but has to be considered.
Plummeting in the handicap after failing to get closely involved in any of his nine starts so far. Well held here over 1m½f last time and hard to make a case for him.
Triple winner from 1m-1m1f, including on heavy ground and also at this track. However, his form has been on the slide since last autumn, and he is not easy to fancy despite being well treated based on his best efforts.
Made the frame a couple of times when trained in France last year (1m1f/1m2½f, both on good). Put up his best effort for this trainer at Ayr (7f, good to firm) last time. 2lb lower, but has a bit to prove on soft ground.
Placed in four of his seven AW starts, but not so in six on turf in this code. Handicap mark remains stiff based on his turf achievements.
Multiple winner from 5f-1m, including on soft ground. After a slow start to the season he was back in better form at Musselburgh (7f, good to soft) last time, and could pick up more prize money with a repeat performance.
Forecasts
Royal Countess (16/5), Brutalab (9/2), Jamil (9/2), Abie's Hollow (7/1), Najib (11/1), Remmy D (12/1), Be Bold (12/1), Shark (14/1), The Retriever (16/1), Chinese Spirit (18/1), Exchequer (FR) (22/1)
Quite an open heat to conclude the card, with the suggestion being ROYAL COUNTESS, who has her conditions and arrives in good form. Abie's Hollow looks capable of having a say, while Be Bold, Brutalab, Shark, Jamil and Remmy D could all get involved in the battle for prize money.
- Royal Countess
- Abie's Hollow
- Be Bold
