Former C&D winner showed she's down to a workable mark with Salisbury third (6f, good to firm; 28-1) last month when beaten 7L, but couldn't replicate that four days later at Yarmouth. Eased another 2lb here.
Dual winner on AW over 5f but yet to score in six turn starts; only beaten a neck at Chepstow (5f, good; 12-1) on return from a break under this claiming rider last month and claims again despite being 2lb higher today.
Excellent strike-rate (8-35) on turf and has won 2-5 this season - both at Ayr over 6f. Acts on any ground has won from higher mark than this before so has to be shortlisted given manner of latest success 13 days ago.
Breakthrough success on all-weather at Newcastle in February over 7f (SP 16-1); been well held in three turf runs since racing resumed however and probably facing similar fate here despite slipping to within 1lb of win-mark.
Pontefract maiden winner last term over 6f on good to soft; improving with each of three runs in handicaps this season; latest when beaten 1½L into third at Doncaster (6f, good to firm; 5-1) 16 days ago off this mark. Should be in the mix.
Made a winning debut in Newmarket maiden (6f, good; 10-1) in June 2019 but 0-6 since; well held in three starts for this trainer recently but mark sliding now and eased in grade so not one to rule out in haste.
Has been running in stronger company at Newmarket all three runs this term and doing so competitively; held over 5f last time but return to this distance favourable and eased 3lb for this class-drop; strike-rate is 1-28 however.
Eight-race maiden ran his best race when ¾L second behind Tuscan Oasis over C&D eight days ago (10-3f); runs from an unchanged mark now and has to be rated a contender as such.
Seven-race maiden and regressed since early promise in novices last summer for Roger Varian; hasn't beaten a rival home in two turf starts since having a wind operation and easier to look elsewhere despite handicapper relenting another 5lb.
Forecasts
Alben Spirit (85/40), One Night Stand (4/1), Mr Wagyu (11/2), Ultra Violet (15/2), Queen Of Burgundy (15/2), Commander Han (15/2), Prince of Rome (11/1), Lofty (25/1), Spreadsheet (80/1)
The class-dropping Commander Han is likely capable in this grade having eased 3lb for his latest run at Newmarket, where he has been consistent recently, but his strike-rate is sufficiently poor to look elsewhere for win purposes. MR WAGYU by contrast knows how to win, doing so four times in the summer of 2018. He blanked last year but is 2-5 since returning to action and his latest Ayr win suggests he can keep going from what remains a workable mark compared to that form of two summers' ago. Alben Spirit improved at Doncaster (third) recently and is considered a player alongside recent C&D runner-up One Night Stand, who races from an unchanged mark.
- Mr Wagyu
