Found best form last year at Haydock in the mud winning twice there in those conditions over 7.2f, rather underperformed when set some stiff task after last win. Below form at York (7f) on return (forced pace), slips back below his last winning mark.

Twice a course winner over shorter he's a useful handicapper on his day (second in Ayr Silver Cup last year), still looks well weighted on that form. Stepped up on reappearance at Haydock (7.2f) last time, likely to come on again, awkward wide draw.

Not for the first time finished rather weakly when last seen in a competitive Goodwood 7f handicap off a 2lb higher mark. May well have needed the run after five months off, should still have been stronger though, claims off a fair mark.

Offered little on his first run for this yard (too fresh, slow away, soon lost place) at Newmarket over 6f, may well have needed the run after ten-months off. 4lb below his last winning mark but yet to win beyond 6f, others make more appeal.

Dual AW winner earlier in the year over 7f, yet to match that form on turf since returning to action after the enforced break in racing. Well drawn here but looks to have gone off the boil judged on his most recent starts, needs to regain some zip.

Won a claimer over C&D last year not needing to be at his best after competing in some good-quality handicaps prior to that victory. Yet to hit form this year in a couple of handicaps (back in headgear last time), well below his last winning mark.

Already won twice this year on turf/AW at up to 1m and ran a super race on his penultimate start to come third at Sandown to two who are far higher-rated than him over 1m. Excuses for a below-par effort last time, nicely drawn to bounce back here.

Steadily coming to life since joining this yard running his best race last time at York over 7f looking as though a bigger run was imminent. Dropped a further 1lb he's well treated on his best Irish form; well-drawn he shouldn't be far away here.

Both his wins have come with front-running tactics used, only one win to his name in handicaps (remains 4lb above his last winning mark). Not disgraced of late though it's been disappointing he hasn't added to his tally during a recent good spell.

Frequent visitor with four course wins to his name (one over this trip), may well be in better heart than his form figures suggest since returning to action. Eased back below his last winning mark, chance may be scuppered by a less favourable draw.

Forecasts

Gallipoli (4/1), True Blue Moon (5/1), Gabrial The Saint (13/2), Asdaa (7/1), Powertrain (7/1), Spirit Warning (15/2), Baby Steps (8/1), Aces (9/1), Penwortham (9/1), Hesslewood (10/1), King Of Tonga (10/1), Lincoln Park (12/1), Finoah (16/1), Reputation (20/1)

Verdict

Both Baby Steps and C&D winner Lincoln Park like to go forward and that should ensure a fair pace with both having reasonable draws to work with. Ian Williams has won this twice before but neither of his duo Reputation or Aces look in the best of form currently and this may go the way of another trainer who is multiply represented, Richard Fahey. Of his trio GALLIPOLI looks to have a leading chance based on his Sandown third with his dual course winning pair, Penwortham and Gabrial The Saint scuppered by their draws. True Blue Moon is certainly on the shortlist after his York display last time looking nicely weighted on his earlier form.
