A tough-as -teak handicapper that is capable of setting a scorching tempo if needs must. Stands his racing well and was unlucky to be pipped at the post at Ripon on Thursday. Down in class and merits consideration once again.
Two novice wins propelled him into the limelight last season and he's faced some very stiff test since; never competitive in a valuable handicap at Royal Ascot when last seen but this is a lot easier. Does have a bit to prove now eased in grade.
Locally-trained contender that finds himself back on a competitive mark and is another that should appreciate the ease in grade. 5f suits him well and ground conditions look ideal; a big run isn't ruled out.
Lost his form after winning at Musselburgh last April and not been able to make the most of a plunging handicap mark so far this season. Has won over C&D but needs to significantly up his game in this company.
Possibly lost the race by getting upset in the stalls at York last month and is better judged on his sterling effort to finish fifth in a Class 2 handicap at Royal Ascot previously. A repeat of that effort would bring him into the argument.
Back to form with a good second at Musselburgh late last month and holds solid claims from just a 2lb higher mark. Consistency has become an issue of late and his 17-race losing sequence is off-putting.
On for the hat-trick after two recent wins at Bath; up 8lb this time, however, and this looks a stiffer test. The rider's 3lb claim is a help at the weights though. Ground conditions also not expected to be an issue.
Yard is in red-hot form just now and all runners from the stable merit a betting check at present. This fellow is no exception even though he's 7lb above his last winning mark. The ground the might be a tad on the quick side for him, though.
Forecasts
Watchable (3/1), Indian Sounds (4/1), Mighty Spirit (13/2), Tanasoq (7/1), Spartan Fighter (8/1), Autumn Flight (9/1), Duke Of Firenze (9/1), Venturous (12/1)
WATCHABLE is a likable handicapper that can be relied upon to give his all. The gelding showed his well being with a near miss at Ripon earlier in the week and the hint is taken with his quick reappearance. Mighty Spirit runs for a top yard, is eased in grade, and should be fitter after two runs in Class 2 handicaps prior to this, so also merits serious consideration. Autumn Flight doesn't have much to find and, given the form of his stable, he too merits a betting check. Indian Sounds is respected in his bid for a three-timer but this is a tougher ask from an 8lb higher mark than at Bath last time.
- Watchable
- Mighty Spirit
- Autumn Flight
