David Chapman Memorial Handicap
Class 3 | 6f | Good (Good to Firm in places) | 11 Runners | Turf
Off time: 13:15 | Winning time: 1m 9.75s
Gained reward for his consistency when winning off 6lb lower at Doncaster on penultimate start. Not discredited when 4L fourth of 12 to Muscika at York last time, but may just be in the handicapper's grip at present.
Smart sprinter in his prime, but signs that age is catching him up of late, although not beaten that far when sixth of 8 to Saluti at Pontefract last time. Needs to show he can build on that now.
On a losing run since winning three handicaps back in 2018 and while he's very well handicapped on old form (8lb below last winning mark), he was again below form at York last time.
Below form this season until tried in a visor over C&D, and bounced right back to form to beat Afandem 1L. Remains fairly treated after a 5lb rise, and should be thereabouts with the rub of the green.
Hasn't won since 2-y-o days, and largely too high in the weights since. Hasn't convinced over 7f the last twice, and now drops in trip with a visor refitted. Bit to prove, but is easing in the weights.
Ended his time with James Tate with a tame effort in the Ayr Silver Cup, and ran poorly over C&D on debut for new connections behind Citron Major. Something to prove, for all he should strip fitter now.
Not won since Newcastle last June, but placed in two of three C&D runs, and he's dropped quickly in the weights after a few modest efforts (now 16lb lower than when a creditable fifth in the Great St Wilfrid over C&D in August). Interesting.
Mayson filly who progressed well in 2019, winning at Nottingham, Chester, Hamilton and Redcar. Yard in form, but her best form is over 5f, and she has a 10-month lay-off to defy.
Gained his latest win over C&D in June, and quickly back to form when third of 8 to Saluti at Pontefract last time, where he had little room to open up in the final furlong. One to beat in mind.
Multiple winner over 5f, and gained his first win at this trip when scoring gamely at York last time by ½L from Medicine Jack. Should remain competitive off 5lb higher, and not easily ruled out.
Below form on all three starts this summer, but fared better than previously when eighth of 12 to Citron Major over C&D last time, and not a shock if he stepped forward again from his sliding mark.
