Recorded his seventh career success when victorious by ½L in a 6f handicap on good ground here last month. Raised 3lb for that success and is of interest dropping back in distance.

Twice a winner in four starts since joining this yard including over this C&D on good going last month. Impressive winner that day and is one to note despite a 9lb rise in the weights.

C&D winner and successful over 6f at Thirsk (good) in June. Good 1L second at Leicester (6f, good-to-firm) nine days later and holds strong claims despite a slightly disappointing effort on good-to-soft ground last time out.

Back to form with a victory over 5f at Newcastle on his penultimate start and acquitted himself well when 2¾L fifth in a 14 runner 6f handicap at York (good) a fortnight later. Interesting dropping back in distance.

C&D dinner but out of form in the main this campaign and handicap mark is falling as a result. Work to do if he's to reverse form with Mutabaahy from when the pair met on the all-weather at Newcastle last month.

Dual winner caught the eye when finishing 3L fourth to Longroom in a handicap over this C&D on good going when making his seasonal debut last month. Bold show looks likely in this contest.

Performed well on both starts this season including when beaten a nose over 6f at Thirsk (good-to-soft) at the end of June. Raised 3lb for that effort and drop in trip is no issue for this event.

Forecasts

Longroom (13/8), Fox Hill (9/2), Red Pike (6/1), Dapper Man (13/2), Mutabaahy (17/2), Dream House (11/1), Jill Rose (12/1)

Verdict

LONGROOM has looked back to his best since joining Paul Midgeley and he can defy a 9lb rise in the weights to register a victory in this small field sprint handicap. The selection can get the better of the filly Fox Hill who should appreciate the return to forecast good ground having proved a slight disappointment on softer going on her most recent start. Dream House, third to the selection on his most recent start can claim third.
  1. Longroom
  2. Fox Hill
  3. Dream House
