Spurn Head Fillies' Handicap
Class 5 | 1m 1f 207y | Good (Good to Firm in places) | 6 Runners | Turf
Off time: 16:34 | Winning time: 2m 5.24s
C&D winner off 2lb higher, overall has a good course record, placed here last two starts (strong in the betting). Stuck on well last time (did plenty in front, as usual), finished close up to another course specialist, capable off this mark.
All wins have come left-handed (0-10 this way round), latest win coming at Wolverhampton (three-time course winner) over 9.5f in February (stable going well at time). Ran with credit back from a break prior to modest fifth at Haydock yesterday.
Won three times on the AW last year at up to 10f, resumed winning ways at the top of the year (again on the AW/10f). Yet to show a similar level of form on turf, disappointing three times of late (highly-tried once), has plenty to prove on turf.
Improved to win at Redcar (10f), made all last time on third handicap start (from a family the yard know well), first-time tongue-tie would have helped. Scope to do better still given her pedigree (especially over further), 6lb penalty not harsh.
Lightly-raced sort, looked to need the run on her handicap debut at Musselburgh (1m), left poorly placed. Nicely-weighted on the pick of her 2yo form she's not one to write off easily although the yard have been rather quiet of late.
Failed to build on the promise she had shown pre/post an eight-month break at up to 10f in her first two handicaps last time. Suffered some interference but a tame finish suggests that can't be used as excuse, jury out at this stage on her chance.
Rule 4 applies to all bets - deduction 10p in the pound
