Always in full control when accounting for Zlatan & Baryshnikov over C&D (Class 5) on her penultimate start; beaten (fourth) under a penalty over an extra two furlongs at Ripon (1m4f) subsequently; sits on a career high mark, but should be involved.
Unbeaten in two starts around Pontefract so far this calendar year, thrashing the Richard Hannon-trained Mark Of Gold by 5L last week; is 5lb 'well-in' under an incurred 5lb penalty; there's every likelihood that he'll oblige once more.
Remains a maiden (0-12), but in all fairness has been holding his form extremely well in recent weeks; kept on from out of the pack when third (beaten 5¼L) to Sudona (Michele Strogoff behind) over C&D 24 days ago.
Class 5 Chepstow winner (1m2f) for Sir Michael Stoute in June 2019; made a fair fist of things over hurdles for his current connections during the winter; met trouble in the run when third to Colony Queen at Beverley (1m2f, good) latest; chance.
C&D winner (July 2018); has developed into an AW specialist since then, with a further three wins at Wolverhampton; weak at the finish when fourth to Sudona (Baryshnikov third) here 24 days ago.
Ex-Richard Hannon; made an immediate impact for Tim Fitzgerald on the AW between November 2019 and January 2020 (form figures 1212); out of his depth, and stamina found lacking at Royal Ascot latest; sports a newly-applied hood.
Forecasts
Highwaygrey (6/5), Baryshnikov (4/1), Michele Strogoff (9/2), Sudona (15/2), El Picador (12/1), Locked N' Loaded (14/1)
Sudona had the measure of both Baryshnikov (third) and Michele Strogoff (fourth) when winning with plenty in hand over C&D 24 days ago, and it's probably prudent to ignore her subsequent run at Ripon (didn't appear to stay the extra two furlongs). Meanwhile, it's highly likely that the capable hurdler El Picador will find his way back into the winners enclosure on the Flat for Keith Dalgleish at some point in the near future. However, after winning with his head in his chest over C&D last week, it's nigh impossible to oppose the well-handicapped HIGHWAYGREY who will be competing from a minimum of a 5lb higher mark in all future engagements.
- Highwaygrey
- El Picador
- Sudona
