Disappointed in the Coventry Stakes when sent off 5-2f only to finish in midfield. Hard to forget how promising he looked on debut. Respected for these connections who had a smart two-year-old win at this track on Tuesday.
Confirmed the promise of his Wolverhampton (5f; standard) win when following-up in the 'Dragon Stakes' at Sandown (5f; good) in 'Listed' company at the start of the month. Form of the yard is of slight concern but he is firmly on the up.
Finished 7th in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot (Qaader 2nd; Admiral Nelson 8th). Form of that race, nor his debut win have been particularly well advertised since but he did look smart on debut so has place claims.
Must bounce back from a slightly disappointing effort when he could only finish fourth in the July Stake at Newmarket (6f; good to soft). Held by Yazaman on that form, but could get closer if not having to make the running this time.
Stepped up on debut effort at Windsor to get off the mark at that same track when finding plenty to score by nearly four-lengths. That form was franked on Monday when the runner-up went in at Redcar. Worth a go in this grade.
Has shown he is not up to this grade the last twice in G2/Listed company since making winning racecourse debut on AW. First-time cheekpieces now enlisted but is extremely difficult to make a case for. Readily opposed.
Has found the very talented Tactical just too good in pattern company the last twice, but is the one to beat after finishing over three-length in front of Qaader at Newmarket (6f; good to soft) most recently.
Forecasts
Yazaman (13/8), Qaader (10/3), Supremacy (11/2), Admiral Nelson (6/1), Lauded (10/1), Gussy Mac (18/1), Talbot (33/1)
The likes of Gussy Mac and Supremacy are well worth the step up to group company after looking talented sorts within their own right the last twice. Qaader is respected given the stables record at this meeting, despite needing to bounce back from a lesser effort last time. He holds Admiral Nelson and Lauded comfortably on the form of their meeting in the Coventry Stakes. However, he looks comfortably held by YAZAMAN who was runner-up in the July Stakes (in which Qaader finished 4th). William Haggas' colt has been unlucky to bump into Tactical the last twice. He is the one to beat on that form, and can finally gain a deserved success at this level.
- Yazaman
- Qaader
- Admiral Nelson
