Landed a hat-trick last year and returned to form when only narrowly denied in an Italian Group 2 last time out. May be able to resume progress here.

Won a Newbury novice event on second and final start of 2019 and only narrowly denied on return back at that venue over 1m2f. Only beaten 6½l in a Group 2 at York and this longer trip could yield further improvement.

Winner of a novice event at Newbury on debut and placed in Listed class next time but hasn't won since and well held in three runs this year; questions about whether he's trained on now.

Had bits of useful form as a juvenile and arrives bidding for a hat-trick having won twice since the restart; up 7lb for latest success when making all but that was impressive and could well have more to give over this sort of trip.

Sarvan22

Creditable efforts in two novice events prior to impressive success in what looked a decent maiden at Pontefract earlier this month on third and most recent start. Shaped like there would be more to come over this trip and opening mark looks fair.

Off the mark at the fifth attempt when bolting up in a four runner handicap at Ascot earlier this month. 10lb rise for that impressive victory looks workable and rates as the type to progress for this yard.

Won a Haydock handicap on return prior to a respectable run at Royal Ascot and made it two wins from three since the restart in a three-runner race at Leicester. This is obviously tougher from 4lb higher but he's another who should appreciate 1m4f.

Doesn't look entirely straightforward; hanging badly in his first two starts this season, though the second of those was a Chepstow maiden win. Taken to post early when well beaten at Newmarket latest; probably best watched for now.

Had gone close on several occasions prior to getting off the mark at the seventh attempt at Windsor earlier this month; rates as the type to build on that and yard have a good record in this race.

Promise in two AW runs prior to making a winning return at Thirsk and better again when making it 2-2 for the season at Leicester. Up 7lb in a much tougher race but less exposed than most in here and yard are flying at present.

Forecasts

Glenties (7/2), Carlos Felix (9/2), Win O'Clock (11/2), A Star Above (13/2), Mambo Nights (9/1), Sarvan (9/1), Cozone (10/1), Encipher (12/1), Damage Control (14/1), King's Caper (16/1), Sound Of Cannons (22/1)

Verdict

A drop in class might do the trick for ENCIPHER who wasn't disgraced in a Group 2 at York last time and this longer trip could see him improve again. Sarvan has to be of interest having won his maiden in good style at Pontefract last time while Mambo Nights warrants respect in his hat-trick bid.
