Half-brother to useful sprinting juveniles The Broghie Man and Gloves Lynch, and looked a good prospect when doing good late work to be ¾L fourth of 11 to Royal Scimitar in a 6f novice at Newbury nine days ago. Will improve, and has solid claims.
£18,000 Dandy Man colt out of a French 1m winner. Didn't offer much on debut at Windsor a couple of weeks ago to be of much interest here.
Dawn Approach half-brother to 1m winner Shamlahar out of a 2-y-o 5f winner who went on to score over 6f in Listed company. Showed some ability when mid-field in a 6f novice at Newbury earlier in the month, but that form has taken a couple of knocks.
Knew his job when sixth of 7 to First Prophet on debut at Newbury, but improved when neck second of 5 to Bonnyrigg in a 6f maiden at Newmarket last time, again making the running. Respected on form and run-style.
By Kodiac out of an unraced mare from the family of 1000 Guineas winner Sleepytime and Sussex Stakes winner Ali Royal. Fetched 100,000 gns at the Breeze-Up sales, and merits a market check on debut for in-form yard.
Shalaa half-brother to 2-y-o 5f winner Natalisa and smart 1m-1¼m winner Sufranel, out of a winning sister to Prix de L'Abbaye winner Namid. Appeals on pedigree, and cost €130,000 as a yearling, so requires consideration starting out.
Bred to be precocious with dam being a winning full-sister to G1 Prix Morny winner Elusive City, and half-brother has shown fairly useful form without winning. Could hardly be in better hands, and market will indicate what's expected.
By Brazen Beau out of an unraced mare, and cost a fairly modest £20,000 last year. Yard can get one ready, but he makes limited appeal in the context of this race.
By Showcasing out of G3 Sweet Solera Stakes winner Blue Bayou. One of two for the yard in this race, but passed over by owner's retained rider, and fitting of a tongue tie for debut raises concerns.
Forecasts
Alkumait (5/4), Riffaa Wonder (4/1), Majd Al Arab (11/2), Imperial Dawn (6/1), Tawleed (10/1), Tistaahal (33/1), Skibo Castle (33/1), The Princes Poet (66/1), Danzart (66/1)
ALKUMAIT shaped well on debut and looks much the better of a pair representing Marcus Tregoning here. Majd Al Arab appears to be working up to something having improved run to run so far, and he looks the main danger, although John Gosden's Tawleed is another in Sheikh Hamdan's silks who merits attention.
- Alkumait
- Majd Al Arab
- Tawleed
