Consistent veteran whose form last year was up to standard all year (very rarely ran a poor race), struggled to regain that level of performance this year. Ran better than his reappearance last time but still looks to struggle off a mark this high.
Took back-to-back handicaps at Sedgefield and Wetherby last autumn off lower marks proving himself well suited by trips such as this. Proved he retained his ability/enthusiasm for the task on return at Southwell, mark looks a testing one.
Useful chaser in novice/handicap company in 2018, lightly-raced since with his latest two start proving well below-par (failed to complete both times). Long absence creates fitness doubts despite being in good hands returning to hurdles.
Returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion for his last success at Uttoxeter (2m4f) in September, appeared to enjoy the increased trip. Did well to finish as close as he did last time out enjoying the increased trip, sound claims off same mark.
Been fencing since his wind op looking a doughty stayer (usually prominently ridden), can take plenty of driving along. Ran poorly when last seen (strong in betting), has gone well fresh but not seen over hurdles for over two years.
Usually runs his race but often promises much and delivers little, has proved an expensive one to follow (usually towards the head of the market). Failed to take advantage of a good opportunity last time, returns with cheekpieces left off.
Enhanced his good record at this track with a smart effort over fences last time a novice chase, already a dual hurdles winner at the track. Ought to stay this trip on a relative speed track if he can cope with a career-high mark back over hurdles.
A trio of hurdles wins in 2018 prove that he's more than capable over timber (back on his last winning mark in this sphere). Ran with credit over fences last year without winning, of interest if fitness isn't an issue off the back of a break.
Completed a hurdles hat-trick late last year, failed to win after that but certainly wasn't disgraced off higher marks in three subsequent starts. Respectable effort on return at Southwell (form franked), down 2lb, should have a leading chance.
Made inauspicious return from injury after 18 months off at Uttoxeter last time over 2m7f jumping none too fluently (tended to jump right). Had some useful hurdling form to his name in the past but hard to see him playing a part here.
His victory in a staying handicap hurdle (3m1f) at Hereford last October showed that he had more to offer as a stayer. Not seen again after that win though until recently, made little impression (last of nine) at Uttoxeter, something to prove now.
Lightly-raced hurdler who confirmed some earlier promise when winning an Ayr 2m4f novice in testing conditions last November. Never dangerous in two starts after that including on handicap debut, returns with questions to answer.

A few that can be considered to have a winning chance here with course specialist Ballyhome looking for his fourth victory here one of the first names on the team sheet. Already a C&D winner over timber this return to hurdles after his chasing win here last time won’t phase him and he sure to go close. Slight preference is for THE VOLLAN who was a fine second at Uttoxeter last time having not quite had the run of the race with two of today’s rivals well beaten off. Mason Jar comes from a yard in good form and he’ll come on from his Southwell pipe-opener that looks strong form as will Jacks Last Hope who also started his campaign with a second at the same track.
