By New Approach. Dam a winner over 1m/1m1f. Closely related to very useful Hong Kong 1m2f Group 1 winner Designs On Rome and a US 1m1f Grade 2 winner. Well-held sixth in a Leopardstown maiden over 7f this month; likely to improve.
Footstepsinthesand gelding; failed to beat anything home in two runs last year for previous handler and needs big step forward here even allowing for Gavin Brouder's claim.
Big prices in recent maidens at Limerick (6½f, good) and Naas (6f, yielding to soft) and hasn't really looked like playing a role at the business of either race.
Due Diligence gelding cost €27,000; stepped forward from debut showing when beaten only 2¼L at the Curragh (7f, yielding to soft; 100-1) last month in contest where Wembley was just ahead of him. Booking of Shane Foley a plus-factor now.
Fastnet Rock colt was behind a couple of these in last month's Curragh debut but took a step forward when 1L third in strong Navan maiden (1m, yielding to soft; 13-8jf). Runner-up franked the form at Leopardstown since; big player for hotshot duo.
Acclamation colt. Sales price rose from 39,000 gns as a foal to 44,000 gns as a yearling. Full brother to the smart 5f-6f Listed winner Justice Da; well held 80-1 chance on debut at Leopardstown over this trip and plenty to work on for now.
€2,000 foal; dam well beaten 5f-1m2f maiden, half-sister to Italian 1m2f Listed winner Mamma Giovanna out of half-sister to useful 1m-1m5f winner Masafi and 5f-7f winner Grandma Lily. Stiff task on paper.
$100,000 yearling by Tamarkuz; half-brother to group-placed winner Rebel Tale and La Vale; has shaped with promise in maidens at Naas (6f, yielding to soft; 18-1) and Leopardstown (7f, good; 25-1) but certainly needs to do more to be winning this.
Half-brother to French winners Quiet Zain (1m3f-1m4f inc AW) and Nargis Queen (1m3½f-1m5f); finished well when narrowly denied in Limerick maiden (6½f, good; 12-1) behind experienced duo 10 days ago; entitled to be wiser for that run and in the mix.
Typical Galileo colt for the yard with plenty winners in family; had Cursory Exam behind on debut at the Curragh when third but turned over at odds-on back there since in a race he dictated. Will likely have to improve but, clearly, capable of that.
Forecasts
Wembley (6/5), Trusted Ally (10/3), Lust (10/3), Blue For You (8/1), Rebel Step (16/1), Montenotte (20/1), Cursory Exam (33/1), Cisco Disco (100/1), My Friend Fred (150/1), Bramble Sand (250/1)
Both Wembley (third) and Cursory Exam (fourth) made pleasing starts at the Curragh last month; though Aidan O'Brien's runner has since been turned over back there with no apparent excuse. He's likely capable of much better and is respected despite that reverse. Shane Foley takes over on the latter and they may have a say too. Trusted Ally came home well at Limerick on debut and will have designs on bettering his third now but LUST is the one. He was worn down late over a mile on his second start at Navan and that form has been well advertised since. Down in trip, he can get Ger Lyons and Colin Keane off to a perfect start in a big week for the flying partnership.
