Showed improved form when making stable/GB debut over fences at Bangor (2m4f) having been bought from Denis Hogan (£9,000). Travelled well off a ten-month break, well on top at finish, up 7lb/down 3f in trip, sound chance of following up.

Fairly useful chaser at his best, lightly-raced since last success at Musselburgh (2m) in early 2019. Becoming well handicapped but offered little on comeback run at Southwell, soon beaten, hard to recommend especially with stable rather quiet.

Hit a real purple patch from July to September last year taking two hurdles before using that as a springboard for a successful return to fences completing four-timer. Back to form last time (not given an easy time in lead), dangerous round here.

Yet to win a race, travels well in his races but does appear to have a rather tame finishing effort to overcome. Not run badly in two 2m chase starts since racing resumed (looked threatening last time at Uttoxeter), likely to come up short again.

Forecasts

Lucky Robin (13/8), Licklighter (85/40), Fort De L'Ocean (5/2), Ontopoftheworld (10/1)

Verdict

Just the four runners and a scenario without another front runner in the field that could hand the initiative to Lucky Robin who faced pace pressure when taking the minor placing over this trip at Market Rasen last time. He gets on well with Brian Hughes (ridden him for five of his last six wins) and he’ll be hard to catch if allowed a soft lead off a competitive mark. He does face an in-form and improving rivals though in LICKLIGHTER who returned to winning ways last time and despite a 7lb rise is expected to follow up. Fort De L’Ocean often looks threatening in his races but his chasing efforts have been typified by tame finishing efforts which leave him vulnerable here.
