£100,000 yearling, second foal, half-brother to useful 5f/6f winner Arcanears so made some appeal on paper on debut at Yarmouth (6f, good/firm). Winner since won a French Group 2, showed ability, raced freely, better to come after that experience.
Newcomer from a yard who do well with their 2yo's at this track, cost 3.1m guineas as a yearling. Closely related to 1m4f winner Arrow Of Gold (RPR 71), half-brother to 3 winners including Golden Horn (Derby/Arc winner), has to be of interest.
Price dropped 10,000gns from foal to yearling, still cost 140,000gns. Newcomer second foal; dam unraced half-sister to French 1m4f Group 3 winner Airmail Special, yard 0-25 with 2yo so far this season, watching brief advised.
One of five newcomers, yard 3-21 with 2yo debutants this year (eight 2yo wins overall). €220,000 yearling, fifth foal, half-brother to winners Majdool, One One Seven and Sulafah, dam placed over 6f. Worth shortlisting given yard profile with 2yo's.
Gelded for his debut but showed plenty of ability when third at Ascot (7f, good/firm), finished clear with his two main rivals. 11-4f in what looks a warm race, sure to improve on that run, could put his experience to good use.
Bred to stay well both his starts so far have been underwhelming although 7f is always going to be too sharp for him. Not settled fully in either AW start (both on Polytrack), now on turf first time, looks a longer-term prospect.
Quite well fancied on his Haydock debut (yard's 2yo's do well at the track) over 7f in fairly testing conditions. Speedily bred, found the test too much, finished well beaten, not without hope though on a better surface this time around.
Newcomer, €100,000 yearling, half-brother to several winners, including a winner at up to 1m Sweepstake (2yo 5f winner). Yard not as well known for debut 2yo winners these days, still capable in this sphere (5-53 this year with debutants).
From the other branch of the Godolphin team, made a promising debut when second of eight at Yarmouth (6f, good/firm) splitting two with previous experience. Finished within himself, not hard to think that he'll improve here, major player.
Yard 2-5 with newcomers this year (were 2-2), 400,000gns yearling, closely related to 9f winner Longing and smart winner at up to 1m4f Astronomer. Dam French 10.5f winner, on pedigree looks as though further will suit, still respected.
Forecasts
Dhahabi (15/8), New Mandate (9/4), Wild Lion (10/3), Soundslikethunder (8/1), Giacommo (22/1), Diamond And Gold (25/1), Scots Gold (33/1), Dinoo (50/1), Carlitos Way (80/1), Rwanda Mist (200/1)
Those that have run set a good standard with the Ascot form of New Mandate setting the bar fairly high and he undoubtedly looks as though he’ll improve although that form has yet to be tested. Wild Lion is another who showed promise on his debut managing to split a couple that had already run and he looks a certain improver. It’s another Godolphin individual that is the main interest though from the Appleby barn in DHAHABI a beautifully bred individual who cost and eye-watering 3.1m guineas as a yearling. The yard do well with their newcomers generally but particularly here he’s chosen to make a winning debut. Giacommo and Diamond And Gold two other newcomers to watch out for.
- Dhahabi
- New Mandate
- Wild Lion
