Four-time winner as 2yo, ran very well when second to a progressive sort at Pontefract (6f, good) at this level in June prior to running poorly over C&D last time. Soft ground may not have been to his liking, likeable type, better surface will suit.
40-1 C&D winner last time completing a long-range (in terms of time) hat-trick having been successful twice on AW previous autumn. Coped well with his first experience of softer ground, raised 7lb, still looks to be improving, should go close again.
Off the mark straight away for this yard at Yarmouth (6f, good/firm) having previously been successful over the same C&D for Michael Bell as a 2yo. Looked less quirky this time (first-time hood/blinkers), held off several rivals, this looks harder.
Useful 2yo winning four on the bounce at 6f on the AW (three different surfaces. Success last year has left him with a fairly lofty rating, found life tougher this year including well held over C&D behind Progressive Rating last time, work to do.
Made a positive start for this yard, running a cracker at Royal Ascot in top-class 3yo handicap over 5f prior to a sound performance at Pontefract (5f, good/soft) last time. A winner on quicker ground as a 2yo he's potentially interesting here.
Made a useful start to her 3yo career winning 2-3, looking well suited by 6f having won over the trip at Leicester and Haydock. Previously successful on a sound surface appeared to relish softer ground last time, up 6lb, will need to progress.
Won a couple of minor events at two over 6f, has generally found handicaps tough this year off a fairly stiff mark including over C&D last time. Seventh to Progressive Rating (may have been unsuited by conditions), work to do on that form.
Improved/progressed in minor events/handicaps winning three over 5f before being given a stiff task at Royal Ascot (5f). Did well there in the circumstances, showed himself still in good heart at Haydock (5f, soft) last time, handicapper in charge.
Successful on handicap debut at Windsor (6.1f, firm) having won on her only 2yo start over the same trip. Failed to justify favouritism (same C&D) last time (race didn't pan out as well), left on same mark, still has scope for more progress.

Theotherside (9/4), Progressive Rating (9/4), Exceptional (5/1), Mr Kiki (11/2), Love Powerful (8/1), Broughtons Gold (8/1), Will To Win (14/1), Hamish Macbeth (16/1), Troubador (16/1), Triple Spear (22/1), Illusionist (40/1)
A typically competitive 3yo handicap with five of the field who contested a top-class handicap of this ilk at the July Festival taking each other on again. Progressive Rating took the spoils on that occasion completing a hat-trick but EXCEPTIONAL who was second on that occasion is taken to reverse the form on 2lb better terms. Plenty of others can be given a chance not least the two Hannon fillies Love Powerful and Theotherside although both will need to show some more progress. Broughtons Gold from the in-form Tom Clover yard is a likeable sort with Illusionist looking one to include in calculations at a likely double-figure price he’s twice shaped well in tough sprint handicaps.
