Course winner that has also won over a similar trip. Running well in defeat since racing resumed last month before a disappointing effort at Dundalk on the AW earlier this month. Better run anticipated back on turf.

Failing to build on promising handicap debut in the winter with a couple of disappointing starts since racing returned last month. Five-race maiden on turf first time visor unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed.

Winner of two of his 17 Flat starts on turf, the gelding finds himself currently racing 26lb lower than last winning mark. Running with credit in a couple of recent starts but could bump in to a couple of better handicapped sorts.

Sole career win in 25 starts came in a Gowran Park handicap over 1m1½f in August last year off a 7lb lower mark. Well beaten when never nearer in a couple of starts since last month. Needs a sizable improvement to mix it here.

Verdict

The Paul Traynor-trained SHUMAKER can add to the first win of his career at Ballinrobe on Monday in this contest. The eight-year-old held off Jeff Kidder to get off the mark at the eighth time of asking for connections over 1m5f. The Denis Hogan-trained Drummer has been hinting at hitting the target in a number of creditable starts since racing resumed last month and can pose the biggest threat in this contest. The Tony Martin-trained Noble Intention, winner at Navan earlier this month and Misty Millie for trainer Garvan Donnelly can compete for remaining prize money.
