Despite making an awkward start he built upon two promising placed efforts beforehand to cruise clear to win by seven-lengths at Leicester (1m; good to firm) last week. Turned out quickly but 5lb well-in so the one to beat if coping.
Only midfield on either start this year, but wasn't completely disgraced when sixth at Ripon (1m2f; good to soft) last time out. 0-3 over this trip which slightly tempers enthusiasm, but place claims if breaking on terms.
Returns to this trip for the first time since making handicap debut over C&D last year. 4lb below last winning mark, and although he doesn't win very often he hinted at a return to form when fourth at Hamilton (1m3f; good to soft).
Bumped into one when runner-up at Doncaster (1m; good to firm) when last seen, and that followed up a solid effort when finding one too good again at Redcar (1m2f; good) over this trip. In career-best form and bold bid expected again.
Didn't show any immediate improvement for the switch to handicaps when seventh on debut in this sphere at Leicester (1m2f; good) on his seasonal reappearance. Retains potential and surprise if he was not capable of better for these connections,
Only won one race from 31 career starts. Returned to the track this summer producing two solid efforts in defeat, including when third to the in-form Flood Defence at Musselburgh (1m4f; good). Firmly on the scene again.
Improved for the step up in trip to 1m2f when fifth at Lingfield (1m2f; standard) after previously only racing over 7f. Changed hands since for 3,500gns & now makes seasonal/stable debut. Place claims if in similar form. Market vibes significant.
Surprise she is yet to fire in two handicaps after finishing second at Newcastle (1m2f; standard to slow) in February. However, 1m6f trip may have stretched her, so despite having something to prove she is not fully discounted back at 1m2f.
Steps up to 1m2f after only managing to beat the one rival at home when 12th of 13 on handicap bow at Thirsk (1m; good). Can only be watched given she has failed to offer any significant promise in handful of starts.
Forecasts
Burguillos (6/5), Broctune Red (9/2), Danking (5/1), Maldonado (11/1), Majestic Stone (12/1), Cuba Ruba (14/1), Rgeebee (16/1), Puckle (25/1), Collette (66/1)
His mark had been plummeting for some time, and after consistent efforts in defeat BURGUILLOS ended his three-year long wait to get back into the winners enclosure in mighty style when an easy winner last week. He should cope with the quick turnaround and is officially 5lb well in so can follow-up in quick succession. If there is to be an upset, perhaps Danking can capitalise. His form so far wouldn't give him a chance, but he has only had four career starts and it would be a surprise if connections weren't capable of yielding some improvement from somewhere. Meanwhile, Majestic Stone is definitely worth considering each-way on the basis of his two starts this season.
- Burguillos
- Danking
- Majestic Stone
