Showed much more encouraging signs when beaten a neck over C&D at the start of the month. That was his best effort for a while, and he could be well-handicapped (back on his last winning mark) if in same form.

Produced a string of solid efforts in defeat the last twice, and he hit the crossbar again when runner-up at Leicester (5f; good to firm) most recently. Is on his last winning mark, but may not be open to as much improvement as some.

Claims on the form of his second at Wolverhampton (5f; standard) in January, but not reproduced that in five subsequent starts. Quiet efforts in defeat on turf the last twice mean he can be ruled out with confidence for now.

6lb below the mark he scored off over C&D in September. In poor form this year and he is certainly not getting any younger, but dangerous to fully write off back at 6f at this Yorkshire venue.

Showed more encouraging sings when third on handicap debut at Doncaster (6f; good) on his recent seasonal reappearance. Definite claims on that form, and open to plenty of progress given he has only had four career starts.

Gone backwards since breakthrough win last year and showed no signs of a return to form when failing to beat a single rival on seasonal debut at Haydock (6f; soft) recently. Can only be watched.

Didn't improve for the switch to handicaps for Martyn Meade, and now makes stable debut for new yard. Difficult to make a case for on form, but she is of interest if market speaks positively for her.

Continues to regress and was well-held on stable/seasonal debut at Doncaster (6f; good) when sent off at 40-1. Marked improvement required after poor recent performances and he can be comfortably opposed given that looks unlikely.

Only 2lb above the mark he scored off over C&D in September. Took advantage of reduced mark to regain winning thread on his penultimate start, and wasn't completely disgraced when fifth over further at Ayr (7f; good) last week. Respected.

Produced two solid efforts in defeat since returning to action, finding the upwardly mobile Intrepid Italian too good on each occasion at Lingfield (6f; standard to slow) last month. Makes turf debut and a major player if able to showing same form.

Almost managed to take advantage of reduced mark to break her duck at Beverley (5f; good to firm) when coming off second best in a photo-finish. Dam was a winner over 6f so she could improve for the step up in trip. Shortlist material.

Showed improved form on handicap debut at Hamilton (6f; good to soft) when second to an in-form rival. She remains unexposed after just three starts and any sort of progress from that run would see her go very close.

Forecasts

Lady Nectar (3/1), Midnite Bride (3/1), Lincoln Gamble (11/2), Carlovian (13/2), Alex Gracie (15/2), Lucky Beggar (9/1), Qaaraat (16/1), Guardia Svizzera (25/1), B Fifty Two (28/1), Lady Monica (33/1), Gossip (66/1), Outtake (100/1)

Verdict

There are a whole host of experienced sorts at this level who must be respected such as the potentially well treated Lucky Beggar, Qaaraat and Carlovian. However, there is a bunch of three-year-olds who look open to plenty of improvement in this sphere.Lincoln Gamble posted a career-best on handicap debut, while Alex Gracie has a huge chance if transferring her AW form to turf. Connections of Lady Nectar must have been ruing their luck when she went down by a short-head last week. She may have to play second best again, this time to MIDNITE BRIDE who may find the required improvement to build upon her handicap debut in first-time cheekpieces.
  1. Midnite Bride
  2. Lady Nectar
  3. Alex Gracie
