Consistent/fair handicapper who confirmed the promise of her previous starts when scoring at Redcar (14f, good/soft), finding plenty for pressure off 2lb lower. Shaped well enough on soft ground at Hamilton last time, handicapper may be in control.
Course winner on heavy ground (10f), returned from a moderate spell hurdling with an easy to back well held effort over C&D (may have needed the run). Remains above last winning mark, needed to show a little more last time to be of interest.
In good form on Flat at the end of last year, winning back-to-back handicaps at up to 13f at Musselburgh (give in the ground both times). Did well in circumstances to finish third at Thirsk (12f, good/soft) last time, mark still fine, shortlisted.
Winning hurdler who took advantage of a reduced mark/fall into a basement grade (0-55) to win at Thirsk (14f, good/firm), well supported. Still well weighted based on his winning hurdles form but this is more competitive, needs others to falter.
C&D winner in an apprentice event this time last year (form tailed off after that), benefitted from a break and returned in good heart. Third over C&D last time (One Last Hug, second), should run her race again, suited by gaining an easy lead.
A career record that reads 1-25 on the Flat hardly inspires and he has work do with One Last Hug and Lizzie Loch on his C&D run last time. Hard to see him reversing that form and improving his rather moribund win-to-run ratio.
Delivered three creditable performances on turf/AW since his Newcastle win in March over 16.3f where everything went in his favour. Strong in the betting over the same C&D last time he's been beaten off this mark on those last three starts.
Produced his best two career performances on latest couple of outings here over 10f and this trip last time. Yet to win a race but does look more at home over staying trips (despite being by a sprinter), out of the weights but unexposed at this trip.
Forecasts
Lizzie Loch (3/1), Smart Lass (7/2), Iolani (11/2), Nataleena (6/1), Nearly There (6/1), One Last Hug (8/1), Three Castles (11/1), Hugoigo (22/1)
A modest staying handicap as the finale with most of these consistent enough but without a progressive sort in the field. SMART LASS didn’t get the best of passages at Thirsk last time and for all that she’s 8lb higher than her last win she still looks fairly handicapped and can return to winning ways. Lizzie Loch and One Last Hug are closely matched on their form over C&D last time and both will play a part along with the consistent Nearly There. Nataleena may be in the grip of the handicapper now but she does find plenty for pressure and can’t be written off too easily with Iolani still capable of playing a part even off an increased mark for his Thirsk win.
- Smart Lass
- Lizzie Loch
- One Last Hug
